part two of one whole month
you rolled over onto your side, glaring at the sun as it rose into the air outside your window. you wished you could scrape away the streaks of light splattered across your carpet with your nails, but knew it would be no use. the day was here, and it was time to go home.
you'd slowly dragged yourself out of bed, grudgingly straightened the covers, trudged to the bathroom, lazily brushed your teeth and did your hair. you slid into a sweatshirt and leggings, all the while biting back tears. your suitcase was waiting by the door, packed to the brink with old luggage and new souvenirs zach had blew his money on for you.
he knocked at the door two minutes before the time he'd said he would. you tugged it open and faced him with a frown.
"nope," you attempted to shut the door in his face, but he caught it with his foot. he followed you to your bed, where you face planted into the pillows.
zach sat beside you, rubbing your back with his hand. "it really sucks, but you have to go home."
"actually," you lifted your head up slightly, "i don't have to go anywhere. i am over the age of eighteen, therefore, i can make my own decisions."
zach rolled his eyes and laughed, "you have a job to get back to, and your online courses start in three days. like i said, it sucks, but you have to go."
you sat up and wrapped your arms around his neck. "thank you so, so much for an amazing trip. i'm going to miss you so much."
"don't thank me. you made it amazing." he sighed into your shoulder, "i'll miss you, too."
you pulled back slightly to look him in the face. "zach?"
"yeah?"
you blushed deeply and broke eye contact with him, "i love you."
he was quiet for a moment, and then echoed the phrase. you were meant to smile, but frowned. zach pulled you back into him and sighed again.
"we should probably go get breakfast."
you nodded and collected the rest of your things into your carry on. zach rolled your suitcase and held your hand in his other. you ride the elevator to the first floor and met ben, sky, demarius, josh, jacob, nick, and stephanie for breakfast.
you ate slow and steady, attempting to soak up the last few moments with your new friends. when the time came, you threw away your trash and zach hailed down a taxi.
stephanie hugged you first. she was practically crying into your shoulder and squeezing you tighter than you'd ever been held. you hushed her and promised a phone call as soon as you landed. the guys gave you great big bear hugs, but didn't shed any tears. josh, however, cried maybe just a little bit.
zachary tried to deny the fact that there were tears streaming down his face. he hugged you to him for a solid ten minutes, until stephanie tapped on your shoulder and motioned to the taxi driver. he looked annoyed and impatient, so you made your final goodbyes.
zach gave you one last kiss, and let you drive away.
