"Not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous for when everyone gets here," Ryan took a long sip of his wine, making a conflicted facial expression to prove his point.

I laughed, raising my eyebrows at him, "Oh, and why is that?"

"Well," he leaned back in his chair, "you know. It's been- a hot minute. A lot of us stopped talking, some of us flopped, some of us became big. I think it'll be kinda awkward catching up. Like, 'Oh, I'm in this broadway show now- leading character!' And, 'oh, yeah I've moved back in with my parents!'"

"What? Do you want me to be humble that I've found a place on the Great White Way?" I teased him.

"Shut up!" He slapped my shoulder with his free hand. "At least I haven't moved back in with my parents."

"True," I dipped slightly on the red wine, smiling brightly over its rim at Ryan.

There was a beat of silence before he continued, "But there's more than just that I'm feeling the tension from."

"What?" I titled my head to the side, attempting to his face. It suddenly registered to me what he was thinking, and I glared at him. "Don't even say it."

"Y/N! You slept with him on the closing night of the show and haven't talked to him since. You left before he woke up! Today will be the equivalent of the weird, morning-after-sex moment you never had!" Ryan giggled at his one words, his wine sloshing around in it's mug.

"Look, if you were in my situation, you would've left and never spoken to him again, too!"

"Nuh-uh, he's one hunk of meat and I would've stayed there for round two!" Ryan held up two fingers to make a point. "Why'd you even leave?"

I was hesitant to answer because I'd never told him this part of the story. "Ya really wanna know?" He nodded frantically, his butt edging towards the cliff of his seat in anticipation.

"Because I loved him."

A few hours later, and Ryan's apartment was filled to the brim with the most important who stuck together during Newsies.

It barely topped off at two dozen people, yet the one who would make it an even 24 had yet to arrive.

And Ryan was sending me sneaky winks every time the doorbell rang.

An hour had passed since the last- and what seemed like final- person arrived. I was laughing with Kara, Ben, Andrew, Jeremy, and Ryan on two of the sofas stationed in Ryan's living room.

"What even happened?" Kara giggled, taking a swig of her fourth cup of egg-nog.

"Okay- don't laugh! You'll give it away!" I pointed sternly at Ryan, who already knew the embarrassing story I was about to tell. "Anyways-!"

The doorbell rang, interrupting my thought. Ryan's head slowly turned around to me when he looked away from the door. He smirked.

"Y/N, could you please get the door? I'll tell everyone the story." Ryan sent me a sweet, devilish smile as he crossed his legs and pleaded.

I waited until only Ryan could see me and flipped him off with the classy finger which held a sparkling ring on its neck. I stepped out to the small parlor area, my heart beat speeding up when I make eye contact with the peep hole.

I didn't dare look out because I knew I would wuss out if I saw him through a glass contraption. I took a deep breath and unlocked the door.

I let it fall back against the yellow-tinted wall beside me, my hand slowly falling down to my side. He spun around to face whoever was at the door, his winter jacket swinging around the rest of his body.
