i lové this man soso much. in this one, bens on the carol king tour and you're in the waitress tour and finally y'all in the same city. okay? okay.

i pressed play on the open music app and stationed myself at my countertop. i began to put pin curls in my hair, squinting my eyes in concentration as i hummed lightly. when all of my hair was up, i pulled a wig cap over my head. josie, my costume and hair assistant, knocked on the door and shuffled in.

"hey!" i grinned at her in the mirror as she situated the styled wig on my head

"hello," she winked back. i lifted my hands up to help her when she added, "if i remember correctly, today you're seeing your little boyfriend. are ya nervous?"

i blushed slightly, "not really. i'm just anxious. i miss him so much."

"i feel you," josie brushed down a few stray hairs with a comb and hairspray, "i miss my husband more than anything."

"aw," i pouted and set a hand to my heart. "maybe we could fly him out to one of shows sometime."

"that would be so sweet, (y/n)," josie gave me a tight squeeze around the shoulders. she left with a small wave.

i finished up my makeup and dressed in my costume quickly. soon after, when they called for half-hour, my phone began ringing. i picked it up and bounced on my heels when i read the contact name.

"babe," i groaned into the phone as i grabbed a few of my props that were in my dressing room.

he chuckled from the other line, replying with, "hey, love."

"oh, my god, i cannot wait to see you later." i descended the stairs of the theater as we spoke, making my way to the stage.

"i can say the same," ben sniffled slightly.

"oh, please don't cry, ben." i stopped in my tracks and pressed my back against the wall.

"i can't help it," he laughed in return, "i just miss you so, so much. i just wanna hold you and kiss your face a lot and—"

he was interrupted by laughing from someone around him. i scrunched my nose up and listened as someone else spoke.

"nobody cares about your love life, ben," another mans voice sounded in my ear.

"shut up, liam!" ben exclaimed, causing me to giggle uncontrollably.

after a few more shuffled from bens side, he sighed and said, "sorry about that."

i readjusted the props in my arms and started to walk again. i turned a few more corners before i was on the stage and i set my things down.

"don't apologize. it was funny." i shrugged to myself, holding the phone to my opposite ear.

"alright, well," he paused, "do you wanna facetime for a couple minutes?"

"sure. i gotta steam, but you can watch, if you're into that."

"i'm into it if it involves you." ben chuckled.

"even feet stuff?" i rose an eyebrow, beginning to trek the steps to my room.

"depends. some feet are gross."

i snorted, "your feet are gross."

"and the bullying continues. ya know, i think they just called places. i gotta go—"

"ben fankhauser!" i demanded, "shut the hell up and press the facetime button."

someone cackled as i passed the ensemble dressing room. i backed up and peeped my head in, accepting the call from ben.

"on the phone with ben, i assume?" grace smirked from her seat.

"yeah," i nodded, leaning against the doorframe. i peeked down at my phone to see bens face, complete in a thin layer of foundation and a mic on his cheek. "i'd love to stay and talk, but i have to steam. bye, gracie!"

she waved me off and the door shut behind me. i turned into my dressing room as ben started to adjust his phone on his counter. i closed my door and set my phone down on a box of altoids. it balanced against the mirror, making a small clack.

i pulled my machine in front of me and turned it on. "so, anything new?" i stuck my mouth on the plug and took a deep breath.

"not really. we just talked an hour or two ago." ben fumbled with his tie and smiled at me. "you look gorgeous."

i blushed and pulled my mouth off the steamer. "i love you."

ben visibly blushed and scratched the back of his head. "i love you, too."

i took another breath from the machine and hummed slightly. ben opened his mouth to speak, but i interrupted him. "when our tours are over, i want to move in with you."

"that's a great idea." he lopsidedly smiled, partially showing his teeth. i beamed at his handsome face and played with the end of my costume.

"i hoped you'd like it." i shook my head, my shoulders waving around slightly.

"it is, trust me," he grabbed his phone from the counter and set it closer to his face.

"i—" the speaker crackled and a voice broke through the air, "ladies and gentlmen, this is your five-minute call. i repeat, this is your five-minute call. thank you!"

i moved my eyes back to ben and lolled my head to the side. "i guess this is see you in three hours."

"i'm coming to you, right?" ben inquired.

"that you are." i reached for my phone, "goodbye, i love you, break a leg."

"i love you, too. have a fantastic performance." he blew a kiss and i ended the call.

during curtain calls, i was so excited that i burst into tears. victoria, who was on for lulu, giggled in my ear and wiped away some of them. i kissed her cheek and set her down when we reached the wings. charity hugged me tightly, and teased me about ben as we climbed the stairs to our rooms.

i quickly changed from my costume and let my hair fall into curls from the pins. josie tickled my neck as she left the room, singing, "ben and (y/n), sitting in a tree. k-i-s-s-i-n-g."

i received a text on my phone from ben, who was about to do the last three songs of his show. i sent a long paragraph of copied and pasted hearts before i headed for the stage door. i took many pictures and signed programs for the next half hour. then, i took a seat in the lobby of the theater with lenne, who insisted on waiting with me.

we changed for a few more minutes, and talked to fans who passed us by. she got up to got to the restroom and i went to grab my phone from my bag when i heard my name. i glanced up, my eyes widening as i saw ben standing but thirty feet away from me.

i grinned, tears immediately welling up in my eyes. i cupped a hand around my mouth and stood from my chair. he began moving towards me again, arms open wide and his face beaming. i raced towards him, throwing my arms around his shoulder and holding on for dear life. he lifted me off the ground, setting his chin into the crevice of my collarbone.

he set me back down and set a sloppy kiss to my lips, cheeks, and temples. i giggled all the while, joy heating up my chest.
