"Feeling my way to the darkness."
"Guided by a beating heart."
"I can't tell when journey will end."
"But I know where to start."
We are all in Dan's car. Maddy, Dan and Ash are singing my favorite Avicii's song. Sunlight's warming the car. It feels right to be on the road with that great song. Maddy's resting on me and singing when it's her turn. I don't know why they split the lyrics this way but, at least, I didn't wake up by making the leap.
"They tell me I'm too young to understand."
"They say I'm caught up in a dream."
"Well, life will pass me by if I don't open up my eyes."
"Well, that's fine by me." Everyone is staring at me. I sang before Dan could and any of them expected me to be awake. "So wake me up when it's all over."
"When I'm wiser and I'm older." Maddy hugs me tight and breathes slowly. When the two others complete the chorus until the electronic beat, she's staring at me in silence.
The radio gets shut down and it's awkwardly silent. What's happening? Weren't we leaving tonight? The sun is barely up and there's almost no traffic. If I had to guess, I would say that you, guys, forgot that you had to be in Las Vegas by noon or earlier than you told Thea. I would say that if they aren't in time they'd get in trouble.
"Why didn't you wake me up?" No one ventures to answer. "Why do I feel like it has to do with me? I know I'm not much in shape these days, but I still know how to walk..."
When I saw the camera the first time, I should have remembered that today's the formal video filming. Well, if what you want is filming material, that's what I'll give you. On Twitter, they said that it'd be a "Do I know my Bro Part 2: Americans VS Canadians" video. Knowing them, we'll either have dares or challenges since we're on the road and... wait, I don't even have an explanation for that. I don't know why they are ignoring me like this. Maddy squeezed my shoulder when I looked upset in front of the camera. She knows how I feel about being ignored. When she looses her endless hug, I move to the door and unfasten my seat belt. The car stopped by a small hill. Grass, dandelions and a few birds are waiting for me to join them. When I was a kid, I used to imagine a little man or a little Mario Bros running on the road and climbing on everything I'd see at my side. I also imagined myself getting out of the car and roll away like I saw in action movies. I don't know why, but it occurs that these thoughts are back on my mind and, now that the car stopped, I need to shake them up a little. In a hurry, I opened the door and jumped without caring about anything but the hill. The grass makes the landing comfy enough and rolling down the hill is just... something I had to do. Resting on my back, I see the clouds and the blue sky. When three heads come over my face, I can't help but laugh.
"Is she crazy?"
"Yo, Dan, what have you done to her?! She became even crazier than the other one here..." Maddy nudges him on the shoulder and fakes an angry face.
"She just wanted attention that's all."
"Well, Amy, I didn't know you were that type."
"You'll know that when you wake up in a car, at something like five in the morning, and everyone ignores you, you do want to shake it up a little... a little just to know if you'll still be ignored."
"You can't be serious!"
"Does it look that crazy? Isn't it obvious that you did it on purpose?! I don't even know why we're on the road that early."
