"Amy?" She bursts in tears and covers her face. Even Lucy doesn't know what to do.
"I got some news from Thea's baby."
"I thought that... Oh, God!"
"Yeah, it seems like they lied to us about her..."
"And?"
"It looks like I'm mandated to be her legal tutor and adoptive mother." She looks at Lucy who takes her arms and puts her head on her shoulder to support Amy.
"You mean that..."
"He killed himself after the accident when he should have wait."
"I... don't know what to say."
"Me neither. I can't let her down."
"You know about her wishes?"
"Yeah, they found it in her desk. Looks like I was like a daughter to her. And her only relative left..."
"Wow..."
"You don't have to stay or say anything. I can hold on and find the best way to get through this on my own."
"What makes you think that I want to leave you with that decision?"
"I'm just being rational. We're a new born couple without any strong bounds. You still have the availability to leave. Why wouldn't you?"
Oh, Amy... if only you knew that I can't imagine living happily if you're not with me anymore. I don't mean it the way you'd see it though. You made me believe in my fans, in Ash, in myself and love again when I thought I could never forget about my parents and leave that sorrow. I'll always love you.
"Don't."
"What?"
"Don't think that I'm just one of these guys you've met already who don't care that much about you. I might not be ready to baptize Thea's child with my name on her birth certificate yet but..."
"Yet?"
"Yeah."
"You could consider having her baby as your own child with a girl you met... less than three months ago?" The mix of joy, surprise and scepticism reminds how I love her. Dear broken believer, when will finally believe in life like you used to?
"Should I be offended by that question?"
"Maybe?" It won't be for now isn't it?
"I won't. I get that you've lost trust and hope many times but I can be what you need right now."
"How?"
"By going to hospital with you and take the baby in my arms imagining it's mine."
"Wow..."
"What?"
Her phone rings with Maddy's ringtone. She seems... annoyed as if she knew what would come up.
--Back to Amy's POV--
"Finally! Where are you? Are you okay? Have you got all my messages?""I haven't even seen my phone. Lucy put it on sound mode when Dan arrived worried. She handed it to me when when we heard your ringtone."
"Wow."
"What did you expect?! That I'd be next to my phone all day waiting for you to call me when I have a house to take care of when my parents are at the hospital and guests from really far away?! Well you thought wrong."
"Woah! Calm down! What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing." I'm not crying yet. She'll notice soon.
