"What do you mean it's not corrupt?" Lazuli asked as we warped to the island.

"Trust me, corrupt gems don't hide in the trees and shoot lasers at you." Bloodstone affirmed.

"Pearl!" The fusion exclaimed, making a fist. Jasper chuckled.

"You mean to tell me that a Pearl is doing this?" The fusion nodded.

"This one isn't an average Pearl. She's trained for tactical combat."

"Well that's stupid." I interjected. "Who would want to train someone who just... Holds your stuff and opens doors?" The fusion shook her head.

"Not this one. She's special." When we arrived, the island was silent.

"The native animals have abandoned the island since she arrived." Charoite whispered.

"Do we have a plan?" Connie asked. The fusion stepped forward and cleared her throat.

"Pearl! This is your squad leader! Reveal yourself!"

"That's our plan." Jasper whispered.

"Garnet?" The Pearl's voice came from above.

"Pearl! Get down here immediately!" Suddenly, the Pearl fell from the sky, landing in a crouch position before the fusion.

"Oh, thank the stars you've found me! We must destroy the rebels before..." The Pearl looked up and noticed the rest of us, and suddenly sprung to attention. She summoned her spear and pointed it at us. "Garnet! They're behind you!"

"I know. From now on, your orders are to aid these gems in protecting the Earth from homeworld." The fusion said. The Pearl looked at her in shock.

"Garnet, are you out of your mind? What will Rose Quartz say?"

"When was the last time anyone's heard from Rose Quartz?" The fusion yelled. "It's been nearly twenty years since she's given a command! We serve her, not the Quartz alliance!" The Pearl sighed.

"But they're rebels!" The fusion shook her head.

"We're rebels now." The Pearl tried to protest, but the fusion glared at her. "We're staying here Pearl. And if you have any problem with that, you're welcome to stay on the island." The fusion walked back to the warp pad, motioning us along. The Pearl sighed, and followed us.

"Fine. But I expect to be treated as an equal, not a servant."
