Chapter 28: (Liz's POV)
I walk triumphantly down the narrow path and round the next corner with a smile on my face. I did it. I pushed her like she pushed me. But now I've got Phil really upset. Before Cassie jumped she looked back at us with hurt and betrayal blazing in her eyes. Phil did not like that. At. All. So now I have a partner who won't talk to me. But oh well, revenge is sweet. After being treated like crap by Cassie, I had enough, so I pushed her to a point where I knew she'd break. And sure enough it did. No surprise there. But she truly is an over dramatic person, so I know she'll go to extents to get me back. She find ways to get under my skin and being that I kissed Phil, god only knows what she'll do to him... Oh my.... What have I done? Did I just destroy something that could have been? Oh my god... I just ripped them apart... I've managed to hurt two people... Obviously my over confident, gleefulness start has bitterly ended. I instantly turn around and grasp Phil's cold shoulder. He looks at me with a pool of sadness in his eyes and mutters one single word. "What?" "Phil! Oh my god! I'm so so so so sorry! I didn't realize what I had done!" I exclaim gripping his shoulder tighter. I just torn apart what could have been a magnificent love story.....
(Phil's POV)
I quietly nod my head and take the lead, ignoring Liz's pleads for me to forgive her. The soft, but brittle grass breaks beneath my large feet as I stomp around the maze. Liz pushed me to hard. I just can't.... I can't even.. Like no! Why! That look of anger and a new redound look of determination in Cassie's eyes was enough to tell me she was over it. She was done with being heart broken. God only knows what she'll do to me now... According to Liz her tactics of getting people back are agonizing and dreadful. God dammit Liz! You just had to get revenge! I swear envy, jealousy, and the simple desire to retaliate to everything just over runs everyone! Including Liz, her simple desire to get back at Cassie was taken past to many limits.
Continuing to ignore Liz, I tromp around in circles trying to find the middle of the maze. Unlike, the Slytherin, who go for the more dangerous, almost rule breaking path, we decide to attempt to simply find our way around like the others. On the other side of the darkly colored hedge we over hear a conversation. "Looks like Slytherin might win.." A familiar female voice sighs. It was Ashton. They must have seen Cassie and Dan. With a new found desire to actually step up our game and win, I begin to think of logical ways to get through the maze. Liz follows me around the bends and straight aways, keeping close, but not too close. Knowing that distance and silence are the best things for our situation. The minutes fly by and the sun begins to descend across the bright, blue sky. It can't be much later than noon, but the time is ticking away quickly. Instead of using words I motion for Liz to walk faster. We rush around the blocked path ways and openings until we reach the center.
Now the center of the maze.. It's gorgeous. The delicate flowers sway in the breeze and dandelion fluff dances in the wind. The deep green of the rough hedge leaves begins to disappear behind the beauty of the over grown bushes, trees, and other variously colored flowers. The only upsetting thing in the center is seeing that we are the 3rd team to find the center. Ravenclaw (Sadie and PJ) digs around the patch of blue bells and Slytherin (Cassie and Dan) reach in the bushes and climb up trees. They are all looking for their House colored ball. As Liz and I walk in Sadie looks up at me and waves. "Hi guys!" She sweetly smiles. She quickly returns back to PJ and the neatly tended blue bells and rolls around in the dirt. Weird... But it's Sadie. On the other hand, Dan simply shrugs his shoulders and continues to dig around in the bushes, cutting up his already scratched arms. Then, there's Cassie. She still had the over determined fire in her eyes and she jumps from tree to tree searching for their green ball. She glances at me and a look of remorse and sadness fill those earlier filled with happiness eyes. I try to smile, but Liz pulls me away.
Next thing I know, I'm sitting in a patch of many yellow flowers. Liz frantically looks for the ball, while I pick at the flowers. "Stop it! What has gotten into you!" She snaps, tearing the few, weed like plants from my hands. I glare up at her and quite literally explode. I let out all my rage and she whimpers in fear. Well.. not fear... more like shock. I raised my voice to the point that everyone heard me. Sadie, PJ, and Dan looked astounded and Cassie just ignored me and pretended as if it never happened. How is she not worried? How can she ignore that? But what caught my attention, was that her foot was stuck! A small look of fear crosses her face, knowing she can't get help from other teams. So there she sat, with her stuck foot, while I searched for my team ball, ignoring her problems and concentrating on mine.
