Chapter 32: (Cassie's POV!!! Yay!!! the main character is back!)
The leaves grow thicker as we approach the top of the tree. Climbing through the tangled mess, the two of us attempt to find the hidden flag. While doing so, Dan asks, "Cassie, why exactly are you wearing that?" I shrug my shoulders and huff. "No reason really, just decided to wear something new.." I mumble. Dan ponders about my response for a minute and replies with, "This is just revenge against Hufflepuff isn't it?" I slowly nod my head, "My you catch on quick." I chuckle quietly and begin to climb higher. The sharp, forest green leaves cut my bare skin, leaving behind tiny, white scratches. Dan follows pursuit and we ascend further. "Where is it!?" Dan almost screams. As if on mention, I see an off colored patch in the trees. I reach out toward the leaves and pull out a dark green flag with the Slytherin symbol on it. A large grin spreads across my face and I race up to the top of the tree.
Once I reach the top along with Dan, we raise the flag and shout. "WE WON!!!" We scream in sync. Down below us Sadie jumps up and down and yells with joy. Phil just smiles and rolls his eyes at her. A wave of relief spreads over me and I'm finally able to relax. These games have been intense. Finally it's over. Not that I didn't enjoy the experience, it's just a lot of work and strategy. But now the stress of the competition is over. Dan and I descend down the tree and I race over to Sadie. We squeal together as the other team and supervisors approach us. "Good job" Ashton smiles at me. Liz strays away from us, but remains fairly close. I don't need to worry about her right now, so I ignore her. With the achievement of second place I feel satisfied with the results. I did want first, but I guess I'll just have to do some study before the next Tri-Wizard tournament comes up. But for now no worries. "Good game!" I over hear Chris exclaim. The three of us walk over to the boys and join in on the conversation.
"Well, now that the games are over, where shall we celebrate?" Sadie asks cheerfully. "A pub!" Chris instantly suggests. Sadie and I shake our heads and sigh. "Can't do that, we're underage." A look of disappointment forms on his face and he let's out a heavy huff of air. As we venture out of the forest I walk beside PJ. "Look out!" He yells through laughter. We both clasp our hand together to form hand guns and pretend to shoot at the monster. "We're good! Let's go!" I shout, running out from behind a tree stump. PJ and I weave in and out between trees and various other plants. "There's another one!" He exclaims. We both 'shoot' it and continue out of the forest. Eventually, we make it out of the forest. With the others far behind, PJ and I sit on top of Dan's car together. "Sooo...." he started. I glance at him and give him a small smile. He returns it, as well as blushing. Oh lord... You have Chris.. You don't want me... "Umm... well... you look nice..." he mumbles, trying to start a conversation. "Thanks, looking good yourself" I reply. "Want to look for monsters again?" He joyfully asks. I nod my head and I climb onto the roof of Dan's car, while PJ roams around on the ground. "Over there!" I shout, pointing at a random spot.
PJ does a magnificent ninja roll and battles with the monster. We continue our 'monster hunt', but then the others appear out of the woods. "Cassie!!!" Dan screams. He races toward me and continues to yell. "Get off my car!!!!" He shrieks, throwing his fists in the air. I stick out my tongue, then jump down, startling everyone. Sadie tells me not to do that because it scares her, but i just laugh. "Too bad!" I snicker. "Well, why don't we head back home!" Dan suggests. Sadie and I both blankly stare at him and he demands for us to get in the car. With minutes of protest, the boys manage to get us in, with the promise of cookie baking later. We better make cookies or I will murder someone. I will do it!
