She woke up with a small gasp, so quiet even Kane, who stood in the very corner of the room, didn't hear her when she did so.

Instead, he stood with his back leaning against the wall as he stared down at the ground, his arms crossed and eyebrows pinched together. Horrid thoughts drift to and from his mind, the worst of the worst possible scenarios scaring him - all pointed on his seventeen years old sister.

Seventeen years old, he thought to himself. He clenched his jaw, his fists balling up as well. He had just lost his mother, he can't lose his sister, too.

All the negative thoughts make a slight departure when he hears the sound of movement against the cot sheets. His head whips towards the direction of Coralie, who finally lets out a small groan from her mouth.

Kane didn't hesitate for a mere second before rushing to her side, eyes widened and heart beating quickly.

Coralie, who had forgotten how, when and where she was found, was confused with her surroundings. According to her mind, she was supposed to be lying down in the middle of nowhere, hidden behind a bush.

She could've sworn that the small flashes of memory that entered her mind of Kane and Bellamy finding her was just a dream or hallucination.

So imagine how astonished she was when the first thing she saw when waking up was her older brother she beloved was dead.

"Marcus?" She gasped, her voice scratchy.

"Coralie," Marcus breathed out before leaning down and wrapping her in his arms, his eyes clenching shut as he relishes the moment in his sister's embrace. Coralie flinched but didn't object to the hug, slowly going to hug him back. Tears brim the corners of both of their eyes, emotions overthrowing everything at the moment.

"I thought you were dead," sobbed Coralie, tears streaming down her face by now. She began to sit up now, her back touching the headboard barely.

"I'm so sorry, Cora," Kane shook his head, neither pulling apart from the hug. "I should've never sent you down here. I was putting my job before my family... my own baby sister. I should've had you up there with me-"

"Everything happens for a reason," Coralie sniffed, pulling away slightly.

"I missed you so much," Kane heavily sighed. "I regretted every moment I hadn't spent with you, and I still do. I love you so much."

"Marc-"

"No, let me get this out," Kane fully pulled away so he could meet eye to eye with Coralie. "You don't deserve any of this. When you were locked up, I knew I could've done something-anything that would help you out of there... but I didn't act upon sentiment. And for that I was punished severely, karma biting at me in every which way. First Mom and now you-"
