"Once again, thank you so much for allowing me to stay with you." Steve thanked me for the millionth time as he carried his things into my apartment. Steves current apartment is being renovated so I am allowing him to stay with me until it's done. I met Steve at a coffee shop at 3 in the morning and we've been best friends ever since.
"Its no problem, really." I assured him as I picked baby toys up out of the floor. "As long as you don't mind a crying baby every now and then."
My son is about 6 months old now and he loves crying. His father ran the moment he heard the word pregnant leave my mouth. The pregnancy was hard but my family and friends really helped me through it.
"Oh, that'll be fine. I love babies." Steve chuckled as he pulled his last suitcase into the living room. "Where's the little guy at anyway?"
"I put him in his crib so I could come help you with your stuff. I can go grab him if you want?" I pointed up the stairs towards his room.
"If you don't mind?" Steve asked with an excited look on his face. I couldn't help the laugh that escaped my lips as I quickly ran up the stairs to grab him. I cradled my son, Jaxon, in my arms and made my way back to Steve.
"Here he is!" I said excitedly as I walked back into the room.
"Oh my God he is so cute!" His face lit up at the sight of Jax and he immediately began to coo and talk to the small baby in my arms.
"Do you want to hold him?" Steves eyes widened at my question and his mouth fell open.
"Seriously? Can I?" His hands covered his mouth as he asked the question.
"Of course." I smiled and began to hand him over to Steve. His mouth remained open as Jax began to settle in his arms. Jax giggled at Steve and I felt my heart melt. "He really likes you." I stated as Jax reached up and grabbed Steves finger.
"This is great. I love babies." Steve laughed.
We spent the rest of the day getting Steve set up in the guest room and playing with Jaxon. Once I put Jax down to bed Steve and I watched some TV before heading to bed ourselves.

It wasn't long after I was asleep that I was awoken by the screaming and crying of a baby. A sigh fell from my mouth as I pulled the blankets off of my body. I walked into the hallway only to walk straight into someones chest.
"I'm sorry, Steve." I said as I processed what just happened. "I'll try and stop his crying as quick as I can." I told him. I felt terrible that Jax was causing him to lose his sleep. He's going to need it if he gets called out on a mission.
"No, go get back in bed. I'll deal with it." He said as he rubbed his eyes.
"You don't have to do that Steve!" I grabbed his wrist as he turned to the babies room.
"Seriously, it's fine. Get back in bed." He pushed me back towards my bedroom. I waited a minute before I creeped to the door to see Steve picking Jax up and patting his back as he held him. A wide smile covered my face as I made my way back to my bedroom.
This happened multiple nights in a row, a couple of times I actually convinced him to let me handle it. Then one night after Steve had a nightmare he stayed in my bed, and with complaints from neither of us he began to sleep there each night.
Steves arm were layed across my stomach when we awoke to a crying baby. I went to sit up but Steve pushed me back onto the bed.
"I'll get it." He muttered as he slowly drug himself out of the bed. His hands went to his face and he rubbed it repeatedly. I stared at him as a small smile graced my lips.
"Everytime this happens I feel like we're a married a couple." I tiredly confessed, not thinking about my words. When I realized what I had said my cheeks began to heat up.
"Me too." Steve smiled at me widely before leaving and going to Jax. I shoved my face into my pillow at Steves reaction and tried to hide me smile and ignore the butterflies in my stomach.
Soon Steve returned and flopped down on the bed. Unexpectedly he grabbed me by the waist and pulled me closer to him. "You know, I wouldn't mind being married to you," He whispered, "and I wouldn't mind being a father to Jax."
"Then what's stopping you?" I whispered as I pressed my forehead against his, hope filling my eyes. A mischievous glint sparkled in his eyes.
"Let's do it. Let's get married." He grabbed my hands and brought them to his face, placing kisses on each of them. "This weekend. We can elope. Tony can get you a dress and I know the perfect spot."
So much was going through my mind as Steve told me all of this, but all of my thoughts were silenced when I saw the look on Steves face.
"Okay, lets do it!"
