No one could've predicted this. No one could've pictured the Iron Man in front of one of his villains without the intent of arresting or killing them. Pepper Potts was laying limp in his arms and his helmet was missing, showing his bruised face and teary eyes. The particular villain he was staring at happened to be The Magician. She knows many forms of magic and he knows that one of them has something to do with healing.
"What are you doing here?" The villain muttered as she stared at the man in confusion. "How'd you find me?"
She was obviously on edge, not sure if this was a trap or not. It wasn't everyday that your worst enemy showed up in your apartment. She glanced around the room to see if any of his team mates had accompanied him. She only saw Captain America standing in the corner but his shield was placed on the ground.
"Fix it." Stark gestured to the woman in his arms. She looked down to see a strange sword sticking from her abdomen and immediately recognized it's origins. Her gaze lingered on the sword.
"I can't." She murmured as she took the sight in.
Stark dropped to his knees, a sick feeling curdling in the pit of his stomach, "Please - see I'm begging and everything - fix it." He swallowed hard. "Please." His voice cracked.
"I can't," She said. She tugged her hand through her hair, moving the other one in a gesture for Stark to get up. "Im not saying this to spite you, I literally can't. This is beyond my power. I'm sorry."
The little hope left in Tonys eyes began to drain as he stared up at the girl in despair. "But, I've seen you heal people before. I know you can do it! She's not dead yet!" He began to yell.
"Yes, I know! But that sword isn't from this Earth! I can't heal unearthly injuries!" She yelled, running her hand through her hair again.
Tonys face fell as he began to sob into Peppers body. She didn't have long. The villain watched and felt sympathy began to fill her. She cursed herself as the familiar feeling began to creep into her almost stone heart.
"Stark. I know a guy." His head shot up and he looked at her with so much hope she thought that maybe that look itself would heal Pepper. "He's not a good guy, and you would owe him a favor."
"Anything. I'll do absolutely anything." The words fell out of his mouth at the speed of light. So desperate to keep the love of his life. The villain grabbed a sheet of paper and began to write things down, nearly taking up half the paper.
"Make sure he doesn't find any loopholes in what you want and know that he could ask literally anything of you." Her eyebrows came together as she wrote all the information they would need to find him. "Also, don't mention anything about me to this guy. He's not somebody I want to get caught up with again."
She held the paper out and Captain America quickly grabbed it from her. Stark stood back up with his lady in his arms and followed Rogers in a rush. As he reached the exit of her apartment he turned and stared at her with wide eyes.
"Thank you so much. You'll never know how much I appreciate this." The sincerity was clear in his words.
"Just get out of here." The magician muttered. A small smirk grew on Starks face but he followed her orders. Though, he knew, this would not be the last time they spoke.
