As the Avengers grew older they knew they wouldn't be able to protect this world forever, they knew that they may even die trying. They began to take on apprentices and train them. Now that there are other worlds and armies targeting Earth they can't leave it with no one to protect them.
So far only three of the Avengers have apprentices. Stark, Romanoff, and Banner.
Tony found his apprentice, a 25 year old named Jace, breaking into his very own tower. He saw potential in him and decided to offer him a place as the next superhero if he were to quit his criminal ways. Jace is a complete smart ass and some would say a carbon copy of Tony.
Natasha chose hers because he was one of the best trained assassins she had seen in years. His name is Seth and he's 23. He's been nick named as the Silent but Deadly one.
Banners was the youngest and the only girl of the three. He's helping her learn to use and control powers that were given to her when her body received chemotherapy wrong. They still don't know what happened. She's only 21 and her name is Clara.
At the moment the three of them are in the training area of the tower working with Steve. Clara is sparring with Jace, which she absolutely hates, and she's not allowed to use her powers. The Avengers watched with interest as Steve walked around the ring studying the two. Clara was throwing every hit she knew but Jace just kept dodging it.
"Is that all you've got little girl?" Jace chuckled as he threw a punch into her stomach. After getting beaten for the millionth time she was tired of losing to the two boys. She used her powers to slow time down and kicked him where the sun doesn't shine. As the time came back into speed he fell to the ground while grabbing his crotch. Tony stood up in anger and the other Avengers groaned in annoyance. She just couldn't fight without powers.
"Clara how many times do I have to tell you? You have to learn to fight without powers!" Steve yelled at her as she walked over to the water fountain, wiping sweat off of her forehead.
"What's the point of having powers if I can't use them?" She said through clenched teeth.
"If something happens that compromises your powers you need to know hand to hand combat." Steve explained. "Now get in there and spar with Seth. No powers." He gave her a pointed stare.
"Then I'm not doing it." She rolled her eyes as she began to leave. "Bruce taught me to control my powers, now you need to let Wanda teach me how to fight with them!" They told her that Wanda wasn't allowed to teach her until she learned how to fight without them.
"How are you supposed to be a hero if you can't fight?" Tony yelled at her in an annoyed tone. This caused her to snap. She just couldn't handle it right now.
"We're just kids!" She screamed, "We aren't supposed to be heroes!" As the door slammed her words sank in. Everyone looked at the other two apprentices who were staring at their feet.
"Maybe, I should go.." Before Steve could finish his sentence he was interrupted by Bruce.
"I'll handle it. You guys have done enough." He muttered as he walked out of the training room. Everyone looked at each other guiltily as they also left and went about their days.
Bruce found Clara in her bedroom, staring out the window. She quickly turned when she heard his footsteps.
"Sorry about that back there," She sniffed as she tried to hide the tears falling down her cheeks. "I really do appreciate what you guys are doing for me."
"I know, it's okay to be scared and stressed about what's happening. I understand." He spoke as he placed a comforting hand on her back. "I also know that you didn't ask for these powers or to be put in this position."
"Thanks Bruce, sometimes I feel like you're the only person who actually gets me." She smiled at him.
"Its not a problem, and I'll talk to Steve about letting Wanda teach you after training, but you really have to give it your all. Deal?"
"Deal!" She screamed happily as she tackled him into a hug. He couldn't help the deep chuckle that escaped him as he wrapped his arms around her. "Oh, and Bruce?"
"Yes?" He asked as she sat back up.
"What's this bet about Jace and I going on for?" She asked, an eyebrow raised.
"Bet?" He hummed out as his eyes widened. "I don't know what you're talking about, but, on a completely unrelated subject, if you were to ask him out you should do it in about five weeks."
"Five weeks?" She laughed as he stood from the floor. "I don't think so. Never going to happen."
"Oh, yeah. I think that would be the best time. He may be obnoxious , like really obnoxious, but you could go for it." He called as he walked out of the room.
