Legolas' POV:

I blocked Aragorn's sword, from coming in contact with Caladwen, with my sword. I stared at Aragorn, waiting for him to back off and lower his sword, so that I knew no harm would come to Caladwen. I mean every word when I said, "I love her." It was true that I love Caladwen, and because of that, I would do everything in my power to protect her.

Aragorn took his sword off my and lowered it down to his side. I lowered my sword as well. The both of us exchanged glances at one another, before we both put our swords back in their holsters. Even though, the swords were put away, I remained standing in front of Caladwen. Just in case anyone makes any surprise movements.

"Release Caladwen." I demanded.

Aragorn had the soldier's holding Caladwen, release her. I turned around and walked over to Caladwen, who stood up on her feet. I gently put my right hand on her cheek and stroked the side of her cheek with my thumb. Caladwen put her left hand on my wrist. Our heads came together only for a minute, before I pulled away and turned to Aragorn.

"Let her go, Aragorn."

"What? Why would I do that?" Aragorn asked.

"If you don't do that Aragorn, then not only will you have to deal with Sauron, but she will too. And that is something I cannot bear to think about." I explained. "An ngell nîn (please) Aragorn."

Aragorn fell silent. I knew that he couldn't afford to let Caladwen go. In his eyes, she was nothing but evil. However, I knew her better than that. Caladwen was not an evil servant of her father, Sauron. She was just a lost soul, who had to obey her father's command to survive; therefore, making her a survivor in my eyes.

"Alright Legolas." Aragorn said. "Caladwen, you are free to go."

"Thank you Aragorn." Caladwen thanked. "And since you are letting me go, I will tell you that you may have defeated this orc army, but there are more orcs behind the gates of Mordor. Far more than the remaining numbers that you have."

Caladwen walked away from Aragorn and I. While Aragorn headed back to the others, I followed Caladwen. She stopped and whistled out into the distance. It wasn't long before her horse, Sadron, came galloping over to her.

"So... what happens now?" I asked.

"I have to go back to Mordor before my father starts to question me." Caladwen replied.

"Why do you have to go back?" I added. "You should stay here, with me, and help us fight him. I know deep down that you don't belong on his side."

"Legolas, please don't do this to me. I want to stay and help you fight him. I want to stay with you, but I can't."

"Why though?"

"Legolas there is something I haven't told you yet." Caladwen started. "Since I was taken as a child, my soul belongs to Mordor and my father. That means that if my father dies, then he will drag my soul down with him."

Those words hit me so hard.

"Gi melin (I love you), Legolas." Caladwen whispered into my ear, before she gave me one last kiss on the lips.

She hopped onto her horse and rode off into the distance. I didn't want her to go but there was nothing I could do to stop her. I stayed in the same spot, until Aragorn came over to my side.

"Legolas, we need to head to Mordor." Aragorn said.
