Legolas's POV:

The Battle at the Black Gate had commenced. I found myself killing every orc in my path. I paused for a second, only to see the men around me do their best to kill the orc army. I heard a horse neigh from behind me, so I turned around and saw Caladwen's horse, Sadron, galloping toward me. I immediately knew that something was wrong because Caladwen wasn't on her horse. So what was Sadron doing?

I ran over to Sadron and grabbed his reins.

"Manna na (where is) Caladwen, Sadron?"

I hopped onto Sadron and he took me through the orc army. We went past the black gate and he started heading toward Barad-dur. I didn't know what to think. What happened to Caladwen? I hopped that she was alright and that I was going to make it in time.

When I made it to the tower, I hopped off of Sadron and ran up the steps, to the top of the tower. At the top of the tower, I saw Caladwen laying on the ground. I rushed over to her and picked her head up from the ground. I held her in my arms.

"Caladwen! Caladwen!" I called.

Caladwen did not answer me, nor did she open her eyes. I knew right then and there that something was wrong with her. Just then, a loud sound came from the top of the tower. It came from Sauron. It was a scream in pain. I turned my head toward the volcano and knew that Frodo has destroyed the ring in Mount Doom. I picked Caladwen up in my arms and carried her down the tower, to Sadron. I placed her in front of me, while I rode behind her.

"Noro (run) Sadron!"

Sadron quickly picked up pace. He ran across Mordor, heading back toward the Black Gate. I looked back and saw Barad-dur starting to collapse. The ground became unsteady. I looked forward and saw Sauron's army of orcs flee.

"Legolas." said a faint voice.

I looked down, to find Caladwen with her eyes slightly open.

"Caladwen, you're alright." I mumbled. "Hang in there, I'm gonna get you some help."

"I dass carnen (is it done)?" Caladwen asked.

"Yes, yes we won."

"Nae (alas)." murmured Caladwen, as she started to drift away and her eyes began to close.

"Caladwen? Caladwen echuio(wake up)!" I shouted.

Caladwen did not respond, nor did she open her eyes. I knew that I was losing her and that was something I can't have happen. I made Sadron run even faster than he was. When we made it out of Mordor and back to the army, I flagged down Gandolf. He rushed over to my side and helped me get Caladwen off her horse.

"Help her, Gandolf." I begged.

"There is nothing I can do, Legolas. She must see Lord Elrond in Rivendell."

There was no way I could get her to Rivendell in a short amount of time. And I couldn't take her their because it would be too late. I began to cry. Gandolf put his hand on my shoulder and said, "Allow me to help."

An eagle swept down and picked Caladwen up with its feet. The eagle flew Caladwen away, to where I could only guess was Rivendell.

"Guren níniatha n'i lû n'i a-govenitham(my heart shall weep until I see you again)." I said, as I watched the eagle fly away with Caladwen.
