Shawn's P.O.V

"So tell me, is my relationship ruined?" Mathew asked

"Probably." Nash smiled

"I don't know, I think she just needs you to care a bit more, it sounds like she wants to still be together but she needs to know if you still want to be together," I responded as I flipped through my law textbook.

"Shawn's answer seemed to be more thought out than my answer," Nash whispered

"They usually are, and for some who seems to have great advice, he still hasn't told his best friend that he has feelings for her." Mathew smiled

"Shut up."

"Yeah man, I thought you were going to tell her last week?" Nash asked

"I was, but her grandpa got sick, and it;s not a good time for her. I don't want her to think I am taking advantage of her. I just need to be there for her, as a best friend right now."

"Yeah, she doesn't look to be herself," Nash whispered as she glanced over at June.

Her short blonde hair was hidden in her ball cap. Her skinny jeans were dark and her dark red shirt was ripped on the ends.

I continued to study her shirt until it finally dawned on me- Her favorite sleeping shirt.

"I am not trying to be an asshole, but I thought her and her grandpa weren't close?" Mathew whispered as he leaned closer to Nash.

"He doesn't live here, so they were never close. It's still a grandparent though, she has to watch her dad fall apart." I answered

"And if you think about it, the next thing to go is her dad," Nash whispered

"Jesus," Mathew said

"Boys, please stay on track," Mr.Blue said

She was struggling, staring at her phone every two minutes. She would read a single word from the textbook than lose focus again.

'Want to go to that new restaurant tonight." Mathew asked

"I work." Nash smiled

"Oh, you want to go Shawn?"

"I think I should go to June's and help her with the lesson and the homework. Sorry, Mathew."

"It's all good, but just so you know. June is in class today."

"Yeah psychically, but not mentally. I bet she had no idea what Mr. Blue taught us today.'

"What did he teach?" Mathew questioned

"Oh, my," Nash responded throwing his head into his book.

IN the corner of my eye, I could see June's phone light up.
A text message.

I sat here wondering who it could possibly be. I hope it's a friend asking her if she is okay if she needs anything. I hope it's not her mom bringing bad news, I hope everything is okay.

June reaches for her phone and instantly stands to her feet. Some people notice others don't. But everyone notices when she runs out of the classroom.

"Oh no," Nash whispers.

Without any thought or hesitation, I stand to my feet and walk out of the class, following June.

June stands in the center of the hall way staring down at her phone. She is shaking, her face has gone completely white, and by the tears on her cheeks, I know he didn't make it.

I walk towards as slowly as I can, not really sure if she wants me here or not.

"June?"

"He.. he."

"I know, I am so sorry," I say as I wrap my arms around her.

I feel her body instantly relax with my touch. Her tears become cry's and her body seems to be getting weaker and weaker.

She hugs my waist as if she is going to fall apart and I am the only thing keeping her standing.

She doesn't say anything, she doesn't have to. All she does is cry, right in the middle of the hall, right in my arms.

I feel her body giving up, her wanting to fall over, and I know that if I let go, she will fall.

"Things will be okay," I say, it's the thing everyone else says. I just don't know what else to say, how to help her, what she needs to hear, so I tell her this, the thing everyone always says.

she doesn't respond.

"Do you want to go home? I can drive you." I whisper."

June nodes her head into my chest.

My heart is pounding so hard, it's as if it's trying to hug her, that maybe some how, that will make things better.

"Alright, let's get you home," I whisper.

"Alright, let's get you home," I whisper
