❝I SEE OUR FREEDOM IN MY SIGHT.❞
GENEVIEVE KNEW POWER, but nothing quite compared to the feeling she held in her heart when she possessed the dagger, specially carved for her, in the knowledge that now, no one could kill her. It had been a while since she had had it, and frankly, the time she had spent without the weapon, knowing that someone else had it, had been utter — well, hell. Giving her vulnerability to someone who would have probably slayed her once the convenient moment arrived, it was most definitely terrifying, and made even the usually fearless Shedevil quiver.
But it also made her think of who exactly had had it. At first, a pang of disappointment and betrayal — the very same feeling she had felt when Lucifer abandoned her — descended onto her heart as she considered the possibility of Dan hiding it, pretending to be her friend when in reality he was plotting murder. However, whilst she was making her way back to Lux, the queen reminded herself that Daniel was a good person, to a nauseating level, and a decent cop, so the thought of him wanting to kill someone was a hard one to believe.
So, Genevieve came to the conclusion that it was Charlotte who had held the dagger in her possession, after she had most likely grabbed it when she fled Hell in the first place, or stolen it when she popped down to help Lucifer save Chloe. Afterwards, the Divine Goddess had probably hidden it at Dan's place, lowering suspicions at herself, but Ginny had been right to doubt her — she had insisted on not carrying the weapon with her, and she hadn't lied, but she had hidden it nonetheless, waiting for the suitable moment to strike and take down the evil queen.
The elevator leading Genevieve to Lucifer's penthouse made a familiar ding as the doors parted, and with a sigh, the Shedevil stepped in and pulled off the scarf around her neck before striding towards the bar. "Pour me a drink as well, darling. I desperately need it", Ginny sighed as she took a seat by the bar, where Lucifer stood as well, gulping down his own drink before filling the same glass with more alcohol and then offering it to his wife. "How did the rest of your night go, eh?", the queen then questioned, after taking a long swig of the drink she was quick to finish.
Shrugging, Lucifer neared Genevieve and rested against the counter whilst he observed his queen and used his fingers to push a strand of her black hair behind her ear. The gesture earned a small smile from her, which Lucifer mirrored as he parted his lips to answer her question. "Well, Mum told the detective she's my step-mom, which is an oddly simple explanation, actually. The case was more or less a success, and we found a book that will apparently tell us what the final piece for the Flaming Sword is. Amenadiel is working on the translation as we speak", Lucifer nodded, "what about you, love?"
"Ah, glad you asked. I think I've successfully apologized to Detective D— I mean, Daniel. But whilst I was leaving the premises, I stumbled onto something rather fascinating. Literally", Genevieve shrugged, and with that, she pulled the dagger from the inner pocket of her jacket, the object flashing in the lights of the penthouse as she showed it to Lucifer, who instantly lowered the glass they were sharing and swallowed thickly at the sight of the weapon.
