The Miracle

Peeta's POV

I open my mouth and drink the small bottle of liquid, unsure at first but if Katniss is so cheerful about it then surely it must do me good. The medicine tastes disgusting but it gets to work quickly. Instantly my everlasting head ache disappears and I no longer feel extremely hot as I did before. Bearing this in mind, I drift off to sleep in Katniss' arms for the first good night sleep I've had in days.

The next morning I wake up feeling fresh and ready to go. I'm still slightly unstable but that's much better compared to how I felt yesterday. I look up to see Katniss' eyes gazing down at me, her face lit up. "Morning Beautiful!" I say to her sitting up, not taking my eyes off her. She is speechless and takes the first chance she gets to come into my arms.

"Peeta, I've missed you so much, never leave me again promise me" she whispers, her soft hair resting against my face.

"I promise" I reply stroking her hair and keeping her calm, just as my little Finn wakes up and comes climbing over and jumps onto me.

"DADDY!" Finn calls excitedly. I never seen him more happy in my life.

"Heyy Finn, how are you doing mate?"

"Good Dad, I've got loads to tell you, and Mom has missed you lots and lots. She spent every night with you, cried some night and just sat staring at the walls other nights. But she cared for you every minute of the day." Finn explains.

"I'm sure she did Finn, I'm sure she did!" I laugh pulling Finn and Katniss in for a hug, trying to forget the horrible events that lie ahead. After around an hour of lying around I decide we need some hunting time to clear around heads of everything that has happened lately. We gather our supplies and each get a weapon, Katniss and Finn have bows, a knife for me, throwing knifes for Kat and a trident for Lucia. We head out deep into the forest, hunting as we go but keeping to the river for water and maybe some fish if we're lucky. We actually didn't do that bad, we gathered lots of raspberries and a few strawberries, 2 fish, a couple of rabbits and a squirrel. We refill our water bottles at the river purify them and head back to the cave. Once back at the cave we sort all the food and begin to make some sort of meal out of the remains from the day before and some of the new thing we collected. These supplies with only last us a day or two so we may need to go out again tomorrow but for now we just concentrate on what we have. After we've eaten there not really much more we can do today so we decided to just settle down and rest. that night we watch all the faces in the sky there are 4 faces in the sky tonight, that leaves 30 of us left, which that number will quickly drop no doubt now the mentors are involved. Katniss comes over just as Finn, Kat and Lucia fall asleep just like she did when I was ill.

"Never leave me Peeta," Katniss whispers calmly.

"I won't, I promise," I reply just as she falls asleep.
