The Star-Crossed Lovers of 12 & 8

Finn's POV

I carefully climb out the safety of the tree, bow and arrows at the ready for any incoming attacks. Surely by now all the bloodbaths should be over and all the older tributes will be making their way on the war path of the younger and more faible of tributes. I make my way through the trees until I get to the clear opening to a small stream growing into a large river spliting off into 4 parts all leading to the island. I plod across the river as quietly as I can until I get the the edge of the island. It is very small and not much is really happening there. Could be the perfect place for me to set up camp until I can find Kat and Lucia. But then just as I think everything is okay, I hear small giggles coming from inside a small lighted cave in the middle of the island. I instantly steady myself to fire at anyone who may be inside this cave, I mean for all I know it could be the careers camp and if it is I am in trouble! I silently peer around the side of the cave to see not the careers but Charlie from my own district and Luna from district 8, they are too busy facing towards each other and kissing passionately to see me. "Erm, excuse me?" I whisper lowering my bow to show I mean no harm to them. Clearly starled Charlie leaps to his feet pulls out a knife lunging towards me, before realising and lowering his knife.

"Oh Finn, I'm sorry I thought you were someone else, trying to kill me and my girlfriend Luna," Charlie says with Luna at his side. Wow their dating and they only just meet, it looks like we have the new star-crossed lovers of the Hunger games just their lovestory will never match my mom and dad's tradgic lovestory. "So do you know how many people are left, until that special twisty thingy?" I start to laugh slightly along with Luna before saying,

"Yes there are 3 left to die until the special twist, would I be able to camp here until the twist?"

"Course you can, any friend of Charlie's is a friend of mine!" Luna replies with a sweet, relaxed voice. She is very cute and friendly, Charlie deserves her. It is started to get dark so we all decided to get some sleep and Charlie says he'll watch out for the night. I quickly drift off that night letting my lack of sleep overcome me, well that is until I'm startled by a dreadful screech within the cave. I jump into action still half-asleep, load my bow and let my arrows fly first landing in the backpack of the attacker. The second in the back of the head causing the attacker, I think it's Raziel from district 2, to drop to the ground dead. I retrieved my arrows and sling them to the side of the cave. Just as the cannon goes off 2 more to go.

Charlie is lying at the mouth of the cave with Luna crying by his side. Blood is pouring from his neck where he has been stabbed with Raziel's sword. "Isn't there anything I can do!?" Luna sobs.

"No, he's losing to much blood and we don't have the sort of medicine to attempt to save him," I try to explain to Luna, trying not to cry and stay strong. We lie Charlie at the side of the cave before Luna runs out to grab something from a nearby bush. When she returns I see the doom lying in her hands. "No you can't do that!" I shout to her as he sits beside Charlie halving the berries between herself and Charlie.

She gives a nod to Charlie before saying "You can do it Finn, believe in all your heart and you will succeed." At that moment both Luna and Charlie share a final kiss as they put the night lock into their mouths.

"No..." I let out a little yelp as they lay peaceful by the side of the cave together forever in peace. I decided a memorial is needed for the star-crossed lovers of 12 & 8, just like my mom for Rue I cover the ground with rose heads and lie Charlie and Luna upon them before the cannon goes off twice and the plane comes in to take them away. I do the traditional district 12 salute my mom showed me to the camera and go to sort out the supplies in the cave. Tomorrow the special twist will be coming into place and i'm ready for it!
