Spending the summer in California has definitely become a tradition for our family over the years.
My Grandma has lived up there alone ever since my grandpa passed 2 years ago and my mom really worries about her.
Every year my family is dragged out of our house (thanks to my mom) for the summer and sent to my Grandmas house to play endless games of shuffleboard and charades.
Don't get me wrong, I love my grandma but It would be nice to be able to spend a summer here in Jersey for once.
"Em, are you almost ready?" My mom yells from downstairs
"Yeah" I yell back as I shove the last couple of things in my suite case
"Aren't you just so excited!?" My annoying older sister squeals as she uninvitedly walks into my room
"Unbearably excited" I say with a voice full of sarcasm
She rolls her eyes.
"You know Emerson, you should be a little more appreciative of the state of California..." She says
Here it comes...
"After all, it is where my future husband and brother in law live" she says practically drooling over the thought of those stupid boys
And there it is.
By future husband and brother in law she's referring to Ethan and Grayson Dolan. Two YouTubers that's she's been completely obsessed with for her entire life.
I bet She can't even go five minutes without mentioning them.
Unlike my sister, I could care less about the two boys. I think they are most likely rich, snobby, spoiled teenage boys who have way too much attentions and money for their own good.
"Maddie, you're ridiculous" I say with no emotion as I walk out of my room grabbing my suite case as I do.
"Am not" she says as she follows me out of my room
"Need help Em?" My older brother Jake offers me with a laugh as he sees me struggling with all my bags
"Yeah, thanks bro" I say with a laugh as I let go of the heavy suite case
"No problem" he says as he picks it up and carries it down the stairs in one hand
Such a show off....
"Oh whatever Jake" I say with a laugh as I follow him down the stairs only to find him flexing at the bottom and kissing his biceps.
I smack him playfully as I pass and walk into the living room to greet my parents.
"Let's go everyone" my dad says as he turns off the lights and grabs his luggage and moms.

The flight to Cali wasn't bad until Maddie started yapping about the Dolan Twins and wouldn't stop.
She was showing me videos, pictures and old vines.... The whole way there
Fun right? (Hint the sarcasm)
Shuffleboard with Grandma was suddenly sounding very appealing.

When we finally arrived in Cali, I couldn't have been happier.
Seeing Grandma was so nice after not seeing her all year, I never truly realized how much I missed her.
While I was setting up my room Maddie once again made an appearance.
"Yes?" I asked in an annoyed tone as I continued to unpack my clothes
She knows I'm not happy with her after that plane ride, so this better be good.
"Hey Em... I'm really sorry about bugging you on the plane" she said twiddling with her thumbs.
Maddie never apologizes for talking about the Dolan Twins.. She definitely wants something.
"What do you want Maddie?" I ask with an eye roll.
She smiles "so before you say no hear me out, okay?"
I nod for her to continue.
"Well, the Dolan Twins are on tour right now and-" she began
I dropped my head back in annoyance letting out a groan for effect.
"Just wait!!" She says annoyed
"Mom and Dad won't let me go alone soo if you came with me...maybe they'd let me go" she says with hopeful voice
"Why would I do that?" I asked completely confused.
She rolls her eyes.
All Maddie does is bug me and now she wants me to help her? Umm..
"Becauseee you're a great sister" she says poking my arm with a cheesy smile
I just stare at her with a blank expression
"And, I'll do whatever you want for a week" she says with an eye roll.
Now we're talking.
"Fine" I finally manage to say
"Yay! Thanks Em" she says with a squeal as she skips out of my room.
Great, this summer is already off to a great start.
