NOT A FAN

chapter 9

"We're here" Grayson finally said after a quiet and awkward car ride.

"Sweet, this is going to be so much fun" Ethan said excitedly clapping his hands attempting to lighten the mood.

I smiled and looked over to see an annoyed looking Grayson.

Well then..

I looked around me just taking in the scenery once I had gotten out of the car.

All I could see was field.

A beautiful huge field that looked like it never ended.

"You know how to ride?" Ethan asked snapping me out of my thoughts as he patted the seat of a four wheeler.

"Oh my gosh" I said with a laugh

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Grayson hop on one of the four wheelers and quickly turn it on speeding off into the field.

"What's up with him?" I asked slightly annoyed at Grayson's sudden change of mood.

"He's jealous" Ethan said

"What. Why?" I asked allowing my eyes to follow Gray around as he rode through the field.

Ethan cleared his throat "uh. You wanna ride?" He asked changing the subject

I just nodded and got on the back wrapping my arms around Ethan's torso in order to hold on.

We rode around for about an hour and it was honestly so much fun.

Ethan had just parked somewhere back in the woods after seeing Grayson ride out there.

We hopped off the four wheeler following Gray into the woods.

"Where are we going?" I asked with a laugh

"It's a really cool spot back in the woods.. Trust me you'll love it" Ethan said looking over at me with a smile

I smiled but then looked ahead of me to see Grayson.

Gosh.

"Gray, wait up!" I yelled before thinking as I jogged over to him

He stopped allowing me to catch up to him.

It was silent.

"Gray, what did I do?" I asked quietly moving so that I stood in front of him.

"Nothing" he said looking down then back into my eyes

I gently set my hand on his shoulder "what's wrong then?" I asked stepping closer

"It's stupid really" he said with a small laugh running his hands through his hair

Why can't he just tell me?

"I'm fine, okay?" He said quietly pushing a strand of hair behind my ear

I just nodded removing my hand from his shoulder while looking back to see Ethan standing there awkwardly.

I laughed when I saw his funny facial expression then gestured for him to catch up with us.

"Is everything okay?" Ethan asked hesitantly

I looked over at Gray to see him already looking at me.

I nodded "everything's fine" I said with a small smile.

"Are you serious?!" I shouted looking off the cliff into the water

"Yes! Just jump" Grayson said with a laugh

"I don't even have on a bathing suit" I said shaking my head

"Excuses excuses" Grayson said as he took off his shirt

Ethan stood on the edge looking down then quickly jumped without hesitation.

I watched as he hit the water with a splash.

I could hear him cheering happily from the water.

"No way" I said turning around to face Grayson

"Cmon. We can do it together" He said holding out his hand

My stomach flipped.

I took his hand in mine interlocking our fingers with one another's.

He smiled.

"Perfect fit" he said quietly looking at our hands.

I could feel my cheeks heat up.

"3" I said trying to cover it up and change the conversation

"2" he laughed

"1" I yelled as we jumped off the ledge landing in the water with a splash.

I came up gasping for air

"That was so amazing" I laughed once I had caught my breath.

I looked over to see Gray getting onto a rock with Ethan.

"I told you Em" he said as he helped me up

I rolled my eyes.

"Guys I'm going to head to the car" Ethan said getting up

"Ok" Grayson said

"We're coming" I said getting up too

Grayson quickly grabbed my hand 'wait' he mouthed
