I stood still, unable to move or even speak as my family questioned me.
"I can't believe you Emerson" my dad said shaking his head.
"I can't believe you met him and didn't even tell me!!" My sister squealed.
"Why didn't you tell us?"
"I'm very disappointed in you"
"I thought we raised you better than this"
"This isn't going to end well for either of you.."
"Did you even think this through?"
All of the voices that surrounded me made my head throb and gave me the sudden urge to scream. Or maybe punch something.
stop stop stop stop stop stop.
"stop!" I said harshly, holding my hands up to silence everyone.
"stop" I said once more but much calmer this time.
The room was silent.
"I am seventeen years old, I think I can manage to make a few decisions of my own by now" I breathed.
"Listen, I didn't plan on meeting Grayson or even liking him, it just kind of happened.."
"I never told you guys because I was afraid of this happening" I said motioning around the room with an annoyed laugh.
"I knew something like this was bound to happen and that's why I tried to push Grayson away.... But it didn't work. The harder I tried to hate him, the more I ended up liking him" I said with a small laugh
"I really like him" I said letting my hands fall to my sides and looking at my family with hopeful eyes.
"I thought he was going to be some rich snob who was obsessed with himself and didn't care about anyone else... I've never been more wrong in my life" I said shaking my head
"He's SO much different than I thought he'd be" I laughed
"At first... I was definitely not a fan"
Now I might be his biggest one...
"I know I don't live here, and I know he's famous... " I said letting my voice trail off
"But Grayson....." I laughed a little
"Grayson makes me want to live in the moment........" I finished with a small smile.
My Grandma stepped towards me with her signature smile spread across her face.
"I'm a sucker for young love" she said with a small laugh, setting a hand on my back.
My mom nodded and looked over at my dad who still stood there looking shocked as ever.
"Maybe we can work this out" he eventually said
