Once I had gathered all of my stuff I ran into Maddie's room.
"Whattttt" she groaned as she looked up from her phone.
"Do you remember when you agreed to do whatever I wanted for a week because I went to see the Dolan Twins with you?" I asked hopefully.
"Mhm. Yeah. But that was before I knew you'd end up dating one of them" she responded sassily with an eye roll.
"Listen, I just need your help finding Jake. That's all I'm asking" I asked.
"Why do you care where Jake-" she began
"Shh" I cut her off.
She rolled her eyes and gave me a 'youbetterexplainnow' look.
"Jake came home drunk last night and he wasn't here this morning" I spoke quietly.
"Grandmas car is gone and I'm worried" I spoke again feeling my anxiety rise as I heard my own words.
"WHA-" she began to yell.
I covered her mouth with my hand.
"You agreed to do whatever I wanted for a WEEK. All I'm asking is that you help me find our brother" I told her as calmly as I could manage.
She removed my hand from her mouth pushing it away as she did so.
"Fine" she agreed.
I nodded.
"We're leaving now" I said as I began walking out of the room.
"Oh, and one last thing" I said turning to face her again.
"Mom, dad and grandma are told nothing" I spoke quietly and then walked out.
"Meet me in the car" I yelled as I walked downstairs.
"Where are you going?" My mom asked once I had reached the living room.
"Oh, Maddie and I were just going to drive around for a little while" I said with a shrug.
As if on cue Maddie walked into the room.
"Awe. I'm so glad you two are hanging out!" My mom said with a smile as she snapped a picture of the rare moment.
"Yeahh" we both said in sync along with a sigh.
"Have fun girls, be careful" my dad called from the living room, taking a moment to direct his attention off of the football game on tv.
"Bye girls" my grandma smiled.
"Bye" I said as we both walked out.
-
-"How do you even plan on finding him?" Maddie asked from the passenger seat.
"I don't know" i answered honestly as I drove around the block hoping to see my grandmas car parked somewhere.
"Oh, great" she said with a sarcastic laugh.
"Can you just stop?!" I asked in a harsh tone as I stopped the car to look at her.
"All you do is complain" I yelled throwing my hands up then smacking them back down on the steering wheel.
"Jake is probably in A LOT of trouble and you don't even give a crap" I spoke, but much calmer this time.
It was silent.
"If you don't want to help me, then fine. Don't. But I am not going to put up with your sassy/rude comments any more. I am SO done with it." I spoke again with an annoyed laugh.
She nodded.
