"Jake you got drunk?!?" I blurted out, feeling more angry than anything at my brother.

"You promised you wouldn't do this while we were here" I began but becoming more quiet one I remembered Grayson was still here.

Jake used to hang with the wrong crowds. He drank, partied.. He was a mess.

That's actually part of the reason him and I are so close. I was able to help him straighten up his life after he had been through all that crap.

But now... Now we're starting from rock bottom again.

I just don't know what would've caused him to go out and do this.

He stood up, slightly stumbling as he did so.

"You" he said pointing at Grayson and placing a finger on his chest, completely ignoring me.

"Needa get out of here" he said pointing to the door.

"Jake stop" I begged trying to push him away from Grayson.

"It's okay Em" Grayson said reassuringly.

"You- you know you can't even be together. Right?" He said with a chuckle.

Grayson's jaw clenched.

"In three weeks we'll be packing up and getting out of here. So t-tell me, why do you like my sister so much?" He asked.

"Do you even love her?" He questioned crossing his arms.

"Yes" Grayson answered without hesitation.

"How do you know?" Jake pressed, stepping closer to Grayson.

"Because nothing makes sense without her" He answered, slightly turning to look at me.

I swear my heart did a flip....

My brother balled up his fist, and began breathing heavily.

"If y-you hurt my sister I'll beat yo-" Jake Yelled.

"Stop" I shouted, stepping in between the two and pulling an angry/drunk Jake up the stairs behind me.

After I had finally gotten Jake in bed, I headed down stairs to find Grayson asleep on the couch.

I smiled as I walked over to sit next to him.

Just as I sat down, the front door opened and I heard my mom and grandma laughing about who knows
what as they walked in.

They rounded the corner and quickly looked at the couch to see Grayson and I.

"Hey" my mom said as she set her bags down.

"you guys were out late" I said as I walked over to see what they had gotten.

"Oh, well. We lost track of time while we were shopping!" My grandma said with a laugh.

I laughed too at her enthusiasm.

"Are Jake and Maddie here yet?" My mom asked as she took off her shoes.

"Uh. Jake is here, but he's already asleep" I said.

I can't tell my mom Jake got drunk, especially not in front of grandma.

Man, he's gunna owe me one.

"But Maddie's not here" I said, peeking into one of the bags.

"Ooo this is cute" I said, changing the subject as I pulled out a laced cardigan.

"Yes, and it's also mine" my mom said with a laugh as she took it out of my hands to put it back in the bag.

I rolled my eyes playfully with a smile.

"It's kinda late Em. You should probably tell the boy he should be getting home" my mom said motioning to the sleeping Grayson on the couch.

"Yeah" I said with a small laugh as I walked over to Gray.

"Hey" I said softly as I kneeled down beside the couch.

"Hey" he said sleepily as he sat up and looked around.

I laughed at his messy hair and sleepiness.

"Is Jake o-" he began.

I slightly shook my head no, and he quickly got the idea once he saw my Grandma and mom in the kitchen.

He nodded.

"I'm sorry I fell asleep" he said with a small laugh.

"It's okay" I said with a smile, attempting to fix his hair.

"I'll walk you out, yeah?" I asked as I stood up.

He nodded and grabbed my hand as he stood up too.

"Bye Mrs. Robinson" he waved at my mom as we passed the kitchen.

She waved back.

"Goodnight Grayson" she said with a smile.

I opened the front door and walked him out to his car.

"Thanks for coming over. I'm sorry for.. Ya know" I said with a small laugh as I looked down.

He lifted up my chin so that I looked him in the eyes.

"It's fine, really" he said with a smile.

I shook my head.

"No. No, it's not fine. I can't believe my brother did that. I can't believe he said those things..." I said letting my voice trail off.

"I'm sorry you had to see that part of my life" I said sincerely.

"This has happened before..?" He asked.

I nodded.

"He used to get drunk a lot...
I just- I thought things had changed.
I mean, he promised he wouldn't drink anymore.." I said starting to feel tears form in my eyes.

"What he said just really got to me. Especially about how we are leaving I three weeks... We won't be together Gray. I-i don't want to loose you" I said letting a tear fall down my cheek.

He quickly pulled me into his strong arms.

"Listen to me. I'm in love with you. Mad crazy in love with you. I'm not going anywhere. Ever. You can't get rid of me" he said.

I listened to his words over and over again in my head.

"I'm mad crazy in love with you too" I said.
