Esme's POV:
"Interesting." (Ed)
"What is Edward?" (B)
"She has an interesting mind. So many thoughts running wild as she saw us. She was thinking how she was glad she didn't have to persuade anyone tonight, almost as if it's a foolproof way of getting away with something. A gift perhaps. Then her mind jumped to fear of being rejected by us. How old is she?" (Ed)
"200. She said she was turned at 15 or 16." (E)
"So young? Poor thing." (R)
"Yeah well she didn't have to be so touchy about her name." (Em)
"It's not her fault entirely Emmett. That was the only name she's ever had, and it was given to her by someone. Someone she cared about a great deal from the depth of her thoughts." (Ed)
"I thought so by her reaction, but it isn't the only name I believe. She told me that she's gone by Angel sometimes. Poor dear has no reason to be afraid of us rejecting her. I'm hoping I can get her to open up a bit more at her place tomorrow." (E)
"If anyone can, it's you dear." (C)
I smile a bit as Carlisle says that. I see Alice frown some before shrugging and leaving with Jasper. Edward whispers to Bella and I swear if she could, I bet she would blush but soon they leave as well. I take Carlisle's hand as we head home together, with Rose and Emmett staying behind for a while.
"Well dear what did you think about her?" (C)
"I hope she decides to stay with us. I don't like the idea of her being alone, she was turned so young and she's all alone now." (E)
"I think you can convince her to stay with us, if anyone can it's you and your open heart. That's why I love you so incredibly much Mrs. Cullen. Your ability to love everyone so strongly and equally as if they were your biological children. That is a gift all its own you know." (C)
I smile as he leans in to kiss me and I meet him halfway. I can only hope my husband is right this time, for I hate for her to be living alone. Living alone for anyone is lonely, but when you live for eternity it's surely unbearable.
Seth's POV:I heard them coming out of the house before I saw them. I'm happy for my Alpha, having Renesmee as his imprint. They're perfect for each other, just as everyone else is with their imprints. Everyone but the newest wolves and I have found their imprints. Leah even found hers ages ago when William came home from college. They're expecting a grandkid in a few months, my great-niece or nephew, her own son and my nephew having joined the pack a few years ago and even finding his imprint a short time after he joined.
Everyone has their imprint and I can't help but feel that I'm missing a part of myself because I don't have her yet. When the pack was first reemerging all those years ago, everyone just assumed it was a rare thing to find your imprint. But there isn't a single wolf in the last 50 years that hasn't found theirs, except me. I just can't understand why I haven't found my imprint yet. I spot Jake headed to the car with Renesmee, who looks pretty good for 53, following close behind.
"Hey Jake, you got a sec before you head back?" (S)
"Sure Seth, Nessie want to wait back in the cabin with Emily and Sam. Just don't tease the old man too much."
"Sure Jakey, just call for me when it's time to go."
"Alright then Seth, what's up?"
I sigh again and as I do the playful look on Jake's face disappears. He sits next to me on the log and I see his expression turn serious and concerned. I look down at the ground, making sure I don't cry before looking back at him.
"I've been thinking of taking another trip across country."
"Looking for her?"
I don't answer him. He doesn't understand, well he kind of does because he's in my head along with the rest of the pack when we're in our wolf form but they all have someone. I mean I'm 69 years old, with the body of a 21 year old, and I still haven't found my imprint and she's the only one I want. I know I could just date someone else, but I want the girl that was made for me.
"Seth it's up to you, but I have one favor to ask of you?"
"What's that?"
"Stay another year or two at least. Nessie's supposed to be starting high school again this year, and she'll want you there too you know. I know you don't really like teaching history but it's just for her sake please. You're one of her best friends, that isn't family. After two years, if you still haven't found her, well you can go wherever you want. I'll even help pay."
"Thanks, it's just. I know I've been dreaming about her for a few years, they started a year or two after the incident with the Volturi. Not every night but when I do dream of her we're running in the forest and I'm chasing her. She's laughing and oh man her laugh is it's the most beautiful sound you've ever heard. Her hair is curly and down to the middle of her back, and then just when I wrap my arms around her and she turns toward me I get the briefest glimpse of her eyes and they're this beautiful silvery blue color. Then I wake up."
"Did you ever tell the elders about these dreams?"
"I told your dad once, he said it just meant that we were going to have to wait to meet each other."
"Well as I said as a friend I'm asking you to stay two more years before you head off. I won't command you as your Alpha, you know I hate having to do that, but I'd hate to have to find another Beta right now."
I sigh again as I look at him, he's not lying, he's being genuine just like he always is. I also know that his choices for Beta are somewhat limited, since the next wolf in line is barely 15 and that's his actual age. I nod a bit and he slaps me on the shoulder before standing up and calling out for Renesmee. I wave goodnight to both of them before going back to my house and going to bed.
I start to fall asleep and I smile as I realize she's in my dream again tonight. The sound of her laugh echoing in the forest soon becomes my lullaby. I can't even be bothered by the fact that I'll have to keep my teaching job at Forks High for another year or two before I can start looking for her cross country, for the second time. I'm not worried by anything as I sleep and dream of her. I'm more than happy to simply chase the laughing beauty through the woods, watching as the sun bounces off her curly hair and seems to shimmer on her tan skin.
