Chapter 25

Dixie's POV:

Seth and I didn't say another word to each other as he ate the food and then I cleaned the dishes. I think I was still in shock from the kiss, I'm not sure why he didn't say anything. I put the dishes in the dishwasher before I left the kitchen, grabbing my bag at the foot of the stairs before putting my boots back on and walking outside to the car. I had set the door to lock after Seth walked out and I heard him shut the door gently behind him just as I made it to Esme's car.

I open the door and sat in the passenger seat, waiting for him to get in the driver's seat. It only took a few moments after my door shut for him to climb in and start the car. We drove back to the Cullen's in the ever-crushing silence between us. I tried to speak but each time I opened my mouth words failed to come out. I just couldn't think what to say him, I still couldn't believe that the kiss had happened in the first place.

How did he kiss me? I mean I know how obviously but.....why did he kiss me? More importantly how could he kiss me after I literally just drank his blood. It's a like a twisted version of Dracula or......I don't even have another example of how messed up this is. I need to talk to Esme or perhaps Rose. I think I need a drink right now.

I hear the gravel under the wheels of the car and I look up just as the car comes to a stop. I open the door and grab my bag, getting out of the car as fast as my injured side will allow me. I hear him walking near me but I can't bring myself to look at him yet. I just don't understand how he could kiss me after I drank his blood. I don't understand. I really need a stiff drink right now.

I feel him gently grab my arm before we walk through the door. I force myself to finally look at him and see him looking at me with what has to be the biggest look of sorrow I've ever seen on a man's face. He rubs the back of his neck with his other hand as he looks down at the wood of the porch before looking back at me.

"I'm sorry if the kiss made you feel uncomfortable. I just, well I think you're beautiful and that you're an amazing person. I wanted to kiss you. I'm sorry if you didn't want that." (S)

"I.....I don't know how I feel about it right now Seth. Could I have some time to think about it and get my head around it?" (D)

I watch as he nods a bit, a sad look crossing his features as he lets go of my arm. I hear the door open and look up to meet Esme's smiling face. I smile in return as she takes my bag and tells us to come in from the rain that's about to start. I smile some as I realize that Alice must be their weather woman, as the rain starts.

"Sorry Esme, but I've got to head back to the Res for a bit. Pack work." (S)

"I understand Seth. Will we be seeing you at dinner?" (E)

"No, I might be back tomorrow." (S)

"All right dear, drive safe in the rain." (E)

"Sure, sure. Bye Dixie." (S)

"Bye Seth." (D)

I watched as he walked back into the rain, climbing onto the Harley and starting it. I heard the loud roar over the thunder and just before I shut the front door I saw him look at me. I would swear that if it wasn't raining, I would be able to see tears falling from his eyes. He looks away just as I shut the door and turn to find most of the Cullens, minus Nessie and Carlisle, looking at me. I really need a drink.

I look to Edward, asking the question that I wouldn't normally ask, and he nods before he stands and asks Bella if she wants to go for a drive to Port Angeles with him and me. She looks between us and nods before everyone else looks at us with a question on their faces. Esme takes my bag upstairs and is back before we even start towards the garage.
