Dixie's POV:
"Surely you didn't really do that Seth?" (D)
"Oh but he did, ran through the woods stark naked in broad daylight all for ten bucks." (Jake)
I feel another laugh leave my mouth as Seth turns a dark red in color as we sit around the fire. Jake and Nessie, as well as a few of the younger pack members that I had met. Ben, Billy, and.....Kody I think was the last one. They were telling stories of when they were the other guys age, before they shifted. Many of the stories being more embarassing than I think either of them would have liked.
Nessie and I on the other hand were having the time of our lives as we laughed at them. We had been sitting out here by the coast for a few hours, watching the waves roll in and out. They had drug me out to the Rez to have this bonfire with a few of the guys and now that I'm here, I'm glad they did. It's so peaceful here, the smell of that salt in the air and the sounds of the waves.
A few more minutes go by before the younger guys say that they have to get home. I see Jake nod before looking to us and asking if we're ready to leave. I nod and stand as Seth does, smiling and blusing a bit as he takes my hand in his. A habit that one of started a few days ago, though I'm not sure who anymore. I see Nessie smirk at me before I roll my eyes at her, with Seth and I walking towards the woods.
We had walked to the bonfire from my house and even though it was quite a distance away, neither of us minded. It wasn't like it would exactly wear us out or anything like that. We were just hitting the tree line when I heard Seth let out a deep breath and a light laugh. I laugh with him knowing that he's relieved to be free of any more embarassment.
"Well......I feel like I should crawl into a hole somewhere now." (S)
"What? No, tonight was great. Plus it's not like you did anything too terrible." (D)
"Yeah, sure. Hey Ruby?" (S)
"Yes Seth?" (D)
"I know that Jake has already told me everything you told the Cullens, but will you ever tell me anything about yourself?" (S)
"I told you I love to read and you learned about Angel the other night. Doesn't that count?" (D)
"No, no it does. It's just.......I feel like I only know you because Jake told me." (S)
"What do you want to know Seth?" (D)
"Everything." (S)
"I've been alive for 200 years Seth, it would take a long time to tell you everything." (D)
"Then let's start smaller. Tell me about your childhood." (S)
"Seth....I didn't really have one. I was abadoned after I was born, found then passed around for a few families. By the age of ten I had already killed over a dozen men......my story isn't one that ends with a happy ending." (D)
"I don't believe that, you're story hasn't ended yet Ruby." (S)
"Not yet. Thank you Seth for walking me home, even if it was unnecessary. And thank you for not......not hating me for what I've done in the past." (D)
"It's not problem Ruby I promise. And I could never hate you for anything Ruby." (S)
"Why though?" (D)
Seth's POV:I find myself fighting my nerves as she asks me that. I've been trying for the last four days to tell her she's my imprint, but every time I get the nerve I talk myself out of it again. I look up to see her purple eyes shining in the moonlight as we stand on her back porch, and again feel myself chicken out.
"I'll tell you why I promise, just not tonight. I would like to ask you on a picnic tomorrow night though, if you'd like to go with me." (S)
"I'd love to. I'm going hunting with Emmett and Rose tomorrow afternoon, so would you like meet me at there house or here?" (D)
"No their's is actually better. I'll see you there at 7:30 tomorrow night." (S)
"Alright, 7:30." (D)
I gently pushed some of her hair behind her ear as she closed her eyes and leaned into my hand, her smile matching my own as she did. She pulls away blushing after a moment, whispering a hasty goodnight before rushing into the house. I smile even as she disappears befoer walking back towards the tree line and shifting. I immediately here the guys in my head nagging me for backing out again. I huff some as I show them my plan for tomorrow night and they agree it's romantic but they tell me if I back out again, they'll neuter me.
I roll my eyes as I run home, knowing that to some extent they are right. I need to just tell her. I've been waiting over 50 years to meet her and I keep backing out of telling her what she means to me. Tomorrow night I will tell her. I will tell Dixie Ruby James that she is my imprint and she means the world to me.
