He had left her.
Alone...
He had left her at the time she needed him most.
He feels sorry that he had left her. And he knows that he had left her to wallow in her own pity.
Its a shame really. He didn't want to go, but he had to if he wanted to protect her.
He left his home, the village, his family.
He knows she tries to act strong. She pretends she's not hurt and that everything is just great in her life. When in reality she's hurting inside.
He never said goodbye to her.
He never said hello to her.
He just packed his stuff without warning anyone and left.
Left the village, his home, his family.
He knows that she won't forgive him easily when he comes back.
He knows that he'll be miserable when he comes back.
But in the end it'll all be worth it because she will be safe.
