Two days after my injury. The pain in my leg had gone and we were ready to go.
The day had come. We were filling the Armored truck with food, water, and Ammunition. Zach had told us that the nearest Sandman base was in Austin, Texas. The base was 800 miles away from our small town, of Hillsboro. We wanted to avoid any resistance that would try to stop us, so we decided to leave at night. I approached Aaron and extended my hand.
"Take care of my house, Aaron. If anything happens to me, I leave you in charge." I said. He grabbed my hand and shook it.
"Don't be like that, Drayton. It's a 13 hour drive. You'll be back before you know it." He said. He reached into his back pocket and pulled out the taser, Zach had given him. "Take this. You can use it to get the scientist."
"Thank you." I said putting the taser into my backpack. I went to Elizabeth, and hugged her.
"Stay safe, please." she said while we hugged. "If you die, I'll kill you."
"Take care of Aaron for me. And get better soon." I said letting her go. Cailey was the last one I said goodbye to. She had been the mother figure of our group, since the beginning. I wasn't embarrassed to say that I would miss her. She hugged me and handed me my revolver. I hugged her again and gathered everyone who was going with us. We all piled into the truck and waved back at our friends. Then the journey began.
