"My Lady?"
I looked up into the eyes of my secretary, Harold Lincoln. He had a pair of beautiful blue eyes, which reminded me of someone I knew.
"Yes, Harold?"
"Sir Gerald is seeking an audience," he informed me.
"Sir Gerald?" He was the Director of the Genovia Shipping Line – my right hand man. "Send him in."
He nodded.
A fiftyish man in a smart suit with a thick Ray-bans frame for a spectacle, walked in.
"Miss Allyson!"
Ever since I took over the company as the CEO, I had officially announced to all employees that they should address me by my name instead of my status. It made working much more pleasant, in a way.
"Yes, Gerald?" I looked out from the pile of notes in my hand. "What brings you here?" The managers rarely visited me in my home office unless...
"We have a crisis."
"Can't it wait till tomorrow's meeting?" I needed desperately to finish my reading.
"I'm afraid not."
I sighed. I pushed away those notes and sat myself in the sofa, indicating for him to join me.
"Thank you," he said.
"What is it?"
"We have an oil leakage."
"Where?" I asked sharply. That was definitely not good news.
"At the port of Bahrain. The technical managers are working at controlling the situation. But the press are anxious for an answer."
"Update me," I said as I folded my arms.
That was how it had been for the last six months since I stepped into position. Meetings, crisis management, talking to the press, conferences, and parties. Results had been promising and Mia was more than satisfied with my performance for I had again, delivered to her expectations, if not, more.
And of course, I had been keeping contact with my dear 'boyfriend' – Niall Horan, regularly. As expected, he had forgotten about my Christmas invitation which I was glad. One Direction had just returned from their Christmas vacation and was now in full force for a brand new year, on their world tour once again.
And as speculated, Jo and Zayn finally broke up. It appeared that she had chosen to pursue her studies over her relationship with Zayn. Smart girl. Niall did not reveal much. I guess it was out of respect for his mate, which was very nice of him.
Meanwhile, Niall and I? Nothing really happened, since we had not met since that day in Taiwan six months ago. I was back in Genovia since Christmas and I had no plans to go anywhere that might cross paths with him.
It was evening by the time Sir Gerald took his leave. I knew I could trust him to handle this. He always had. He was a good right-hand man, just like Sammy's father to Mia.
A knock rang out on my door. Then Sammy's head popped in.
"Can I come in?"
"Sure," I smiled. "What's up?"
She smiled, "Not done yet?"
I sighed and shook my head.
"The Queen has asked for your presence for dinner."
