Across boundaries >> XXXIX<<
To our surprise, Zayn was actually excited about going to Cairo. It was no wonder since Cairo was the capital of Egypt and the largest city in the Arab world. Majority of the people there were Muslims with a few minorities being Christians. The number of Mosques in Cairo was probably equivalent to the number of churches in London.
After two months of breaking up with Perrie, he seemed to have recovered from his moodiness and began talking to us once again. We were glad to have him back.
"Not sleeping yet?" I sat down beside him. We were in my private jet once again, travelling down to Cairo. In order to save time, we decided to fly overnight and sleep on the plane. Everyone else was asleep except Zayn and me. I was busy typing up a report for the Cairo's trade office as per Mia's instructions when I caught Zayn's reading light still on.
"So are you," he smiled back shyly. Unlike Niall who was carefree and open with his thoughts, Zayn was much more shy and reserved but he could be fun when he wanted to.
"I had to finish a report before we reached Cairo," I explained.
He chuckled, "Work..."
I nodded with a pout.
He looked out of the window. There was a flash of lightning far off in the distance. "I'm quite excited to be in Cairo."
"Don't we all know?" I joked.
He laughed softly, "Yeah, obvious isn't it?"
"Have you been to Pakistan?"
He shook his head, "No. My father never thought of going back. Not even for a visit. And especially now, things are getting quite heated."
I nodded, "He's probably thinking about your safety."
"I know he misses home sometimes..."
"Well...who wouldn't?" I smiled. "No matter how good everywhere else is, I'll still miss Genovia."
"I'm happy for you and Niall," he said out of the blue.
"Hmm?"
"Both of you deserves each other."
"I'm sure you'll find your girl one day."
"I did... but I let her go...," he mumbled.
"I saw her on the video the other day," I said.
He looked at me, puzzled.
"Sammy showed me the music video."
"Perrie?"
I shook my head, "Jo. She's really a beauty."
He smiled sadly, "Yeah. I used to tease her even though I know how insecure she was... she always thought she was just a plain Jane."
"But she isn't," I pointed out.
"That's right. She just doesn't know it," he chuckled as he recalled. "That's why we made her a video with her as the lead in What Makes You Beautiful."
"You guys did?"
He nodded, "We gave it as a present to her after our first performance together."
"You loved her very much, don't you? No... you still love her," I said.
He sighed, "That's what Perrie said too."
"Is that why she broke up with you?"
"Yeah..."
