Kabanata XIX: Oo Na!

I smile when I heard Ken's voice. Kanina pa ko dito sa tabing-dagat at nakalimutan kong magpaalam sakanyang lalabas muna ako. He must have been agitated with my sudden disappearance.

"Finally, ikaw babae hindi ka nagpaalam." Aniya habang nakapameywang sa harapan ko. He's sweating profusely and his shirt is actually wet.

I smiled-once again. "Didn't know I need to ask your permission? Are you my dad?" I teased and he frowned.

Kanina pa ko dito at sa sobrang pag-eenjoy ko nga sa dagat ay inabot na ko ng paglubog ng araw. I never thought the waves sound could this be soothing.

Isang linggo na kami dito sa Cebu at nitong mga nakakaraang araw ay wala kaming ginawa kundi ang magliwaliw kasama ang mga pinsan at kapatid niya.

We tried so many things from the zip line adventure, snorkeling and even the party life. I can't get enough of Cebu's beauty and adventure. This is my first time being here and it exceeded all my expectations. Akala ko ay boring pero hindi pala.

Ken sighed at tumatabi sakin. Nakatingin siya sakin habang malalim ang iniisip. "May problema ba?" tanong ko.

Konting-konti na lang kasi ay magsasalubong na talaga ang kilay niya sa sobrang pagkakakunot nito. "We'll start with the work tomorrow." He answered.

"And so? Diba yun naman talaga ang plano?" that after a week sa site na kami magfofocus? Ano pinagpuputok ng butsi nitong lalaking to.

"You're good for nothing first love will be there." Sabi niya habang nakanguso. I wanted to laugh at his grimace. Yun pala ang iniisip niya.

Alam kong dadarating dito si Chrome, I received a text from him a couple of days back. He said he'll pursue the project. Ang pinagtataka ko lang ang bilis niyang nakabalik from the States. Sabi ni Mateo ay umalis rind aw si Chrome 3 days after I left for Cebu pero wala pa daw 48 hours ay bumalik na ito.

No one knows what happen and I dare not to ask. "Of course he'll be there. He's the engineer Remember?" konti na lang talaga matatawa na ko sa itsura ni Ken.

"He may be after you. I'm afraid you still love him."

"But I still love him." kumunot ang noo ni Ken. Nalaglag ang balikat niya at tumungo sa buhanginan.

"You do?" I nodded.

Without any words he stood up, "Okay, tara pasok na tayo." Malamlam na sagot niya. Napatingin ako sa nakakuyom niyang kamao na nanginginig sa sobrang pagpipigil. Bago pa man siya tuluyang makalayo ay niyakap ko siya sa likod.

I felt him stiffened. "I still love him Ken...."

He flinched and tried to remove my hands wrapped around his waist. But I didn't let him "....but as a friend Ken. Don't be so dramatic of walking out. It's so gay and I know you're not so please STOP." Bahagya pa kong natawa sa sinabi ko. I just want to see him react when I said that and he reacted beyond my expectations.

I thought he'll burst out and go mad about it, but he's calm and composed as if trying to suppress himself of punching everyone. "You're playing with my feelings Mandy." He said in a cold voice.
