James POV:
I never meant to upset Riley. I feel terrible.
The doorbell rings. I answer it. Its Riley.
'James Im so sorry for running off like that'
'Its okay'
'No its not. You were only trying to help'
'Come inside'
She walks in and we go up to my room.
'The truth is your right. I do need peoples help. Ive just been too afraid to admitt it'
'Its okay to be afraid sometimes. Theres always going to be people to support you. I never meant that you were a charity case. Im just worried about you'
'I know you are'
'Your my best friend Ri. I just dont want to see you getting hurt'
She smiles weakly and hugs me.
'You need to tell my parents'
She nods.
'Okay'
We go downstairs and sit with them.
'Whats up?'
'Riley has something to tell ye'
She fills them in on everything.
'Oh Riley. Im so sorry' my mom says.
'I-I was just wondering if maby...'
She puts her head down.
'What Riley is trying to say is that her and her sister is struggling. And she needs help. So I was thinking that maby we could help her?' I say.
'Of course. Wed be happy to help you. Anything you need you just ask us okay. We're here for you' mom smiles.
She nods.
'See. I told you. You never have to be afraid to ask'
'Thanks James'
'Your welcome'
'James can I talk to you alone for a minute?' mom asks.
'Sure'
We leave the kitchen.
'What youve done for that girl is the best thing ever. You have made her life so much better. And I think she really cares about you'
I nod.
'I really care about her too'
'Just take care of her at school okay. And help her sister if you can'
'I will. Could I maby go over to hers to help out tonight?'
'Of course you can'
I smile.
'And James. Everything will be okay for her. We just have to be there when she needs us'
I nod and go back into the kitchen.
'Lets go Ri!' I say to her.
'Where are we going?'
'Back to yours. Im pretty sure youll have a hungry sister arriving soon'
She laughs.
We leave to go to hers.
Im just so glad that she has opened up and is letting us help her.
