Why Me?

Chapter 18 ~ Fixing things

James POV:
I open my locker and a peice of paper falls out. I look at it. It has a message on it.
Meet me at the park at 8:00 pm.

I look at it. Since when did West send me notes? I shrug and close my locker and go home.
When I get home I do some homework and help Piper with hers. I then go up to my room and go on my phone for a while. I look at my watch.
7:30.
I have half an hour to get ready. I put on a pair of jeans and a shirt. I go downstairs.
'Mom! Im going to meet West at the park! Ill be back shortly!'
'Okay! Bye!'
'Bye!'
I leave.
When I arrive at the park I look around. But theres no one there.
'West? Where are you bro?'
Lights come on around the place and Riley appears from behind a wall.
'Surprise!' she smiles.
I sigh.
'I should have known it was you who sent the note. West can barely write his own name. Dont mind a note'
She laughs and steps towards me.
'Whats all this?' I ask.
'Its a surprise date'
'Oh. I should go home and change then'
'No. You actually look good in that'
I smile.
'I...um...I brought a picnic complete with shawarma' she smiles.
We sit down and eat. When we're done we sit in silence.
'James Im sorry I made you feel the way I did. I never meant it'
'No its okay'
'Its not. Youve been there for me through all this and I just took it for granted. Thats why I did this. I want you to know how much I care about you. And how much you mean to me'
I smile.
'Is this your way of saying sorry?'
She nods.
'I forgive you'
'Really?'
'Yeah. If you dont want to share with me whats going on its cool. Its alot to deal with and forcing you isnt going to help'
'Its not that I dont want to tell you...Im just not ready'
I nod.
'Im okay with that'
She smiles.
I stand up.
'Shall we dance?'
She nods.
I play some music and we slowely dance together.
She looks at me and smiles. She leans in and kisses me.
This is just what we needed to get back on track.
Im so glad that things are better between us.
