Chapter 2 ~ School

James POV:
I walk into school and look around. Its way bigger than my last school. I make my way to my new locker to sort out my books. I feel a hand on my shoupder. I turn around and see Riley.
'Hey Riley' I snile hugging her.
'Hey'
'How are you feeling'
'Im okay. Still sire'
I nod.
'Wheres your locker?' I ask.
'Here' she says opening the one next to mine.
'Cool'
She smiles.
'What do you have first?' she asks.
'Geography'
'Same'
We make our way to the classroom.
'A girl approaches us'
'Riley!'
'Hey Michelle!'
'How are you feeling?'
'Im olay'
She smiles sympathetacly.
It must be hard knowing that your friend is goingnthrough hell and you cant do anything about it.
'Michellr this id James. Hes starting here today'
She smiles and shakes my hand.
'Okay everyone! Sit down!' a teacher says walking in.
She stops when she sees me and smiles.
'Everyone! Id like to introduce you to a new student! This is James Torjman. Id like you to make his stay at thos school very welcoming!'
She turns to me.
'Why dont you go and find a seat deer and we'll begin'
I sit dosn next to a guy named Jack as Riley is sittinv next to Michellr.
Through the whole class I cant help but glance over at her working. Theres just something about that I cant put my finger on.
When lunck comes, me, Riley and Michelle go outside to eat.
'Did yiu just move here?' Michelle asks.
'Yeah. A few weeks ago'
'What do you think of the place?'
'Its actually quite cool. Tge people seem nice'
She smiles.
A bunch of girls apptoach is and I know excatly who they are. Theyre tge ones who beat up Riley yesterday.
I look at Riley who is getting nervous. I place my hand on hers and she starts to relax.
'How are you today Riley? Sore? Stiff? Cause thats how yoyr meant to be!'
She keeps her head down.
'The world has no place for an orphan girl like you! So why dont you just get lost!'
I stand up.
'Why dont you get lost and leave her alome!'
'Ooooo! Im so scared!'
They laugh meanly.
'Whats your problem with her! Sges like every other kid! Theres nothing wrong with her!'
'Ill tell you whats wrong with jer. Her parents are dead! Which means she should be dead!'
'No it diesnt! Cant you see shes been thriugh enough! She goes thriugh hell because of you guyes. Loosig her parents are bad enough but been juged and beaten uo over it is wirse! Shes done nothing to yiu guyes so leave her alone!'
They look down at her.
'So I see youve got your boyfriend sticking up for yiu noe!'
'Hes not my bpyfriend'
'Well he should be. Because you two loosers would be perfect togetger'
Michelle stanfs up and slaps her across rge face.
'Their not loosers! So get lost you creeps!'
They look at her and leave.
We sit back down.
'Are you okay?' I ask.
She bursts into tears and burries her head in my chest. I rub her back.
I look at Michelle.
'Go and get a teacher. One shes close with'
She nods and leaves.
Some students gather around to try and comfort her. I guess they all feel sorry for her.
I take her inside to the teacger.
'Oh Riley. You poor thing. Its okay' she says hugging her.
Riley continues to cry.
I really dont know what to do. Shes my friend and I cant help her.
Riley looks at me and tgrows herself into my arms. I hug her tightly.
'Thanks fir sticking up fir me'
'Its my job. I told you yesterday Id protect yoy'
'But they could come for yiu'
'And thats a risk Im willing to take for you. Cause I care abiut you and seeing you like this is killing me'
She looks at me. I place a strand of hair behind her ear.
'Riley deer. Yiu can take the rest of the day off'
'But I cant fall behimd. And I havd to fey in extra study to teach my suster'
'Ill help you. You can come back to mine for the afternoon. Ill help yoy stydy' I tell her.
'Really?'
I nod.
'But only if Im allowed leave'
'You can leave' tge teacher says.
'Tganks. Ill just get my thimgs. Ill see you tomorrow Michekle' I say hugging her.
'Okay. Bye'
'Bye'
We get our things and leave.
I cant wait ro study with her today.
