Chapter 16 ~ The phone

Rileys POV:
Me and James are at the beach.
'Do you wanna go on a boat?' he asks.
I smile.
'Okay'
He pays for the boat and we go on it.
'Give me your phone' he says.
'Why?'
'So we can take a selfie'
I laugh and hand it to him.
'Smile'
We take the picture. The boat rocks in the water causing us to fall. My fone falls out of James hand and into the sea.
'My phone!' I say leaning over the boat.
'Carefull!' he says pulling me back.
'I need my phone! I need it!'
'Ill get it!' he says jumping in.
A few seconds later he comes out of the water with the phone in his hand. I grab it off him.
'No! Its not working!'
I get off the boat. He follows me.
'Ill fix it for you! Ill even buy you a knew one!'
'I dont want a knew one! I want what I have on it!'
'Allright! Just give it to me and Ill fix it!'
I look at him.
'Fine!'
I hand it to him.
'Are you okay?' he asks.
I walk off.
James POV:
I watch as Riley walks off. I see Eldon.
'Hey James'
'Yo'
He looks at Riley walking off.
'Im guessing things with Riley arent so good?'
'Her phone dropped into the sea. I went in to het it for her. She grabed it off me and I told her Id fix it or get a new one. She completly lost it'
'Maby shes just worried about it?'
'No man. Theres something up with her. And Im going to find out what'
He nods.
'Well you go and fix her phone. Ill see you later' he says.
'Bye bro'
'Bye'

I go home and go into the kitchen and get out some rice and pour it into a bowl. I place Rileys phone into it. Kevin walks in.
'Whats with the rice?'
'Its for Rileys phone. It fell into the sea'
'Oh'
I put my head down.
'You okay?'
'No man. Riley is acting all weird. She freaked out over the phone. I told her Id get a new one if it wouldnt work and she said no. She said she needed wat was on it. What ever is on her phone must be really important to her'
'What are you going to do?'
'Ill talk to her. Its probally stuff to do with her parents again. I just hope shell talk to me'
He nods.
'Well good luck with that. Im going out. Ill see you later'
'Okay. Bye'
He leaves.
I take her phone out of the rice to see if it turns on. Nothing. I put it back in.
'Hey big brother'
I look up and see Piper.
'Hey little sis'
'What you doing?'
'Trying to fix Rileys phone. It fell into the water today'
She nods.
'Is Riley okay?' she asks.
I look at her.
'I think so. Why?'
'I ran into her today comming back from the beach. She seemed stressed. I asked her if she was okay but she shouted at me to leave her alone. She then ran off'
'Wow'
Riley is not the kind of person to do that.
I check her phone again. It turns on.
'Yes. It works. Im taking this to Riley. Ill see you soon okay'
She nods.
'Bye James'
'Bye Piper'

I knock on the door of her appartment. Riley opens it. I hand her the phone.
'Its fixed'
She grabs it off me and scrolls through it.
'Everything is there! Its all there!' she says happily.
She looks at me.
'Ill see you tomorrow' she says closing the door. I stop her.
'Are you serious?'
'What?'
'Your phone drops into the water. I jump in to get it. You snatch it off me. I offer to get you a new one if I cant fix it. But you said you need the stuff on it. So I go home and fix it for you. Then I come here and give it to you and all I get is see you tomorrow! You could at least say thank you!'
She puts her head down.
'Im sorry. Thank you. I really appriciate it'
'Can I come in?'
She nods and lets me in.
'Im sorry for earlier'
'Its cool. But its my sister you need to appoligise to'
She puts her head down.
'I didnt mean to snap at her'
'Ri this isnt you. Whats gotten into you. And whats so important on your phone?'
'I-I cant tell you'
'But you can. Thats what Im here for'
'Just because your my boyfriend doesnt mean I have to tell you everything!'
'Im only trying to help you!'
'Well you can help by leaving!'
'But-'
'Go! Now!' she says pointing to the door.
I walk towards the door and look back at her. She has her head down.
I sigh and leave.
I just wish she'd let me help her.
