Chapter 22 ~ Payback and Tori

Rileys POV:
Im in school at my locker getting my books. James comes over to me.
'Yo'
'Hey'
I take a drink out of my bag.
'Well if it isnt orphan girl and her idiot of a boyfriend'
I turn around and see Jess.
'I see someone has stopped crying after her crush was made public' I tell her.
She looks at me.
'Well if thats how you look at it...Ill be seeing you after school in the yard then' she smiles meanly.
'Your going to be waisting your time. Dont you get it? Im not scared of you anymore. And I never will be again. You can beat me up as much as you like but it wont affect me'
'You sure about that?'
I unscrew the lid of my bottle.
'Has anyone ever told you how lovely your hair is Jess?'
'Well I do go to the hair dressers every weekend and-'
I pour my drink over her. She screams. Everyone gasps and starts laughing.
'Why dont you go to the hairdressers now and see if they can fix your hair!' I laugh.
A teacher approaches us.
'What is happening here!'
She stops when she sees Jess.
'Miss! Look what she did to me! She should get detention!'
'Well...um...I didnt excatly see it so I cant punish her. Go and clean yourself up and clean up this mess while your at it'
'But-'
'Go!'
She storms off in a tantrum. The teacher turns to me and winks. I smile at her as she walk off.
James grabs me and smashes his lips onto mine. We pull away.
'What was that for?'
'Nothing. Just that you were amazing'
I smile.
'How about you stay over at mine tonight?' he says.
'But what about Emily?'
'She can stay too if she wants. Provided she you know...leaves us alone'
I laugh.
'Whats up with you James?'
'What! Can I not chill with my girlfriend now!'
I smile.
'Allright. Ill stay over tonight'
'Yes!'
I smile and kiss him.

Me and James are just gathering our things after the last class. I feel a hand on my shoulder.
I turn around and see Jess.
'Your not going to get away with this!' she says angrily.
'Your never going to understand are you? Im going to make your life as miserable as you made mine for the rest of the school year. And your not going to stop me. Just think of this as your payback for what youve done. Its finally time for you to feel the pain I felt'
She looks at me scared. I turn to James.
'You ready?'
'Yep' he says smiling and trying to hold in a laugh. I look at Jess.
'See you on Monday'
I take James hand and we leave. When we leave the school he bursts out laughing.
'Did you see the scared look on her face!'
'Yeah! It was priceless!'
We laugh.
We arrive back to his. I text Emily to tell her whats happening.
Kevin comes out of the kitchen with another girl.
He smiles.
'Someone looks like they had fun' he smiles.
'You can say that again! She poured her bottle of juice over Jess! You should have seen her. She screamed her head off! And after school when Riley threatened to make the rest of the school year misserable for her, she had the most pricless look on her face! She was so scared!' James telles him.
'I never thought Id feel so good about pouring a drink over someone in my whole life!' I smile.
'And Im proud of you. You deserve to feel good' James smiles.
I kiss him.
'Im proud of you too kid. You did good' Kevin smiles.
'Thanks'
I hug him.
'Hey Tori' James smiles hugging the girl that Kevin is with.
'Hey' she smiles hugging him back.
'When did you get home?'
'Last night'
He smiles.
'Tori this is Riley, James girlfriend. Riley this is Tori my girlfriend'
I smile and shake her hand.
'Tori has been abroad for a few months. She came back yesterday' Kevin says.
'Oh. So it was a long distance relationship?' I ask.
They nod.
'What was that like?'
'Not easy. It was hard but we got there'
I smile.
'We should do our homework' James says.
'Yeah. Good idea'
A text comes through to my phone. Its from Emily.
'Oh yeah. Em will be over after work. James wanted me to stay tonight but I didnt want Emily to be alone so shes staying over too if thats okay?' I tell Kevin.
'Sure. No problem. The more the merrier' he smiles.
'Right then'
'Am...whos Emily if you dont mind me asking?' Tori asks.
'Shes my older sister'
'How old is she?'
'20'
'And she allready has a job?'
'Yeah. She kinda has to pay for the appartment rent'
'Has she finished school?'
'She had to pull out to work. I teach her when she comes home'
'Are your parents sick or something?'
I put my head down. Everyone goes quiet.
'Im sorry. I shouldnt have asked'
'No its not your fault. James Ill be upstairs okay?'
He nods.
I go upstairs to his room and close the door. I take out my phone and unlock it. I look at a file in it titled mom and dad.
A tear rolls down my cheek. The door opens and James walks in. I wipe away the tear.
'Hey. Are you okay?'
I nod.
'Yeah'
He sits next to me and puts an arm around my shoulder.
'You can tell me'
I take a breath in.
'I think Im ready to tell you whats on my phone'
He nods.
I open the file I was lookimg at.
'This is it'
'What is it?'
I show it to him.
'Its pictures of our whole life together. From when Emily was born, when I was born. All the way up to when they died'
'Wow'
'The reason I was desperate for it to be fixed was because thats all me and Emily have left of our parents. If we lost that...'
I put my head down.
'I didnt tell you about it because I just find that file so personal. It means so much and I just wanted to wait till I was ready to tell you'
'I understand'
I kiss him.
Tori walks in.
'Sorry. Am I disturbing something?'
'No. Come in'
'Well I kind of want to appoligse for making you uncomfortable earlier. Im sorry' Tori says.
I smile.
Im not mad at her. I dont blame her for bringing up my parents. I just wish that thinking about them didnt hurt so badly.
'Its okay'
James gets up.
'Ill get something to eat' he says leaving the room.
She sits next to me. We sit in silence.
'Your one lucky girl Riley. James is a great person and your lucky to have him as a boyfriend'
I nod.
'Yeah. He really is amazing'
She smiles.
'You probaly want to know about my parents'
'You dont have to tell me'
'I want to. They died. My mom was knocked down and my dad was killed in a motor cycle accident'
'Oh Riley. Im so sorry. When did it happen?'
'A few months ago'
'That sucks'
'Yeah. And I was bullied over it. Every evening I was beaten up by a group of girls'
'Let me guess. That Jess girl?'
I nod.
'But then James came along and to be honest he saved my life. He changed my life. I dont know what would have happened if he didnt move here'
She nods.
'Well your gonna be fine. You have a boyfriend that really cares about you'
I nod.
'I dont know how he puts up with me. Im not the easiest person to get along with'
'What girl is easy to get along with!'
I laugh.
James comes back in with sandwiches.
He hands a plate to me and Tori and sits down with his.
I start to eat mine. I cough.
'James! Its so spicy! Whats in this!'
'Oh. Thats the chilli one. Sorry babe. Got them mixed up. I have yours then'
'How do you eat that!'
He laughs as we switch sandwiches.
The doorbell rings.
'That would be Emily' I tell them.
I hear someone comming upstairs. Emily walks in.
'Hey Em'
'Someones been looked after' she smiles.
I laugh.
'I brought your things' she says handing them to me.
'Thanks' I say taking them from her.
She looks at Tori.
'Hi. Im Emily. Rileys older sister' she smiles.
'Hi. Im Tori. Kevins girlfriend' she smiles back.
'I guess no one made me a sandwich?'
'Awww. Dont worry. Id never leave my girlfriends annoying sister out' James smiles handing her a sandwich.
She laughs and takes it.
'I should go' Tori says getting up.
'No. Dont go. You should stay for the night' I tell her.
She looks at us.
'Please?'
'Fine'
I smile.
'You can stay. Just dont end up in bed with my brother' James says.
I hit him.
'James!'
He laughs.
'Right. Im putting my things in the room' Emily says leaving the room.
'And Im going to find Kevin' Tori says following Emily out the door.
Me and James look at eachother.
Wanna watch a movie?' I ask.
'Yep'
We put on a movie and watch it. We lye on the bed and I snuggle into James arms. When the movie is done we just talk about different things. Thats the best thing about James. Hes so easy to talk to. It doesnt have to have a point. You can just say whatever you want.
After some time James falls asleep. I look at him sleeping. I smile. Hes so cute. I feel myself drifting off to sleep next to him.
Today has been amazing.
Right now what I really need is sleep.
