Chapter 5 ~ Dinner

Rileys POV:
Me and James walk into the appartment. He looks around.
'Youve got a nice place here'
'Its not much, but its better than nothing!'
He laughs.
'What are you going to have for dinner?' he asks.
'Bolanagise'
'Cool. You show me where the food is and Ill cook'
'I take it you cook at home?'
'Nope. Thats Pipers job when moms not around'
I look at him.
'You leave your sister who is years younger than you to cook?'
'Well I wouldnt say years younger than me'
'How much younger is she?'
'About six years' he says quickly.
I laugh.
'Your such an idiot!'
'No Im not! And you barely even know me so you cant juge me so quickly!'
'Isnt that my decission to make? I thought I was the one to choose if I could juge my friends or not!'
He laughs.
'Sorry!' he smiles putting his hands up in defence.
'If your going to get dinner ready you better start!'
He smiles.
'Okay okay!'
I show him the things.
'Im going to shower I say going to the bathroom.
I turn on the shower and step in leaving the hot water fall over me. I close my eyes. When Im done I step out and wrap my warm towel around me. I walk into my bedroom to get dressed. I see a hoodie on my chair. I pick it up realising its belong to James from yesterday. I smile. It was sweet of him to give it to me. I take in the fresh smell from it. I put it on my bed and get dressed. A knock comes on the door.
'Hey Ri. Im kinnda having trouble out here. Is there meant to be more meat or more sauce cause Im really confused'
I laugh.
'Ill help you'
I pick up the hoodie.
'This is yours from yesterday'
'You can keep it. I have loads at home'
I smile.
'Thanks'
We go back into the kitchen and I help him finish making dinner.
After some time I hear the door opening and my sister walking in.
'Hey Em!'
'Hey Ri! Something smells good!'
'Yeah! Dinners ready!'
She stops when she sees James.
'Who are you?'
'Em this is James'
'James! So your the one my sister wouldnt stop talking about yesterday!' she smiles.
He looks at me. I put my head down.
'Thanks for helping her yesterday'
'No problem. How was work?'
She puts her head down.
'And Im also guessing that shes told you everything?'
'Yeah. Im really sorry'
'Its okay'
'Am...I dont want you to take this the wrong way or anything, but my family has offered our help to ye if you want anything' he says.
'Their so nice. Kevin is their older brother and Piper is so adorable and Deboradh and Tom are so sweet' I smile.
'Thanks for the offer but I think we're okay'
He nods.
'We're here anyway if you need us'
'Thanks'
'Im hungry! Lets eat!' I say.
We sit down and eat dinner.
'So what do you work as?' James asks Emily.
'A shop keeper'
'Cool. Is it fun?'
She looks at him.
'If you call standing behind a counter all day in a shop that has barely any coustemers fun, then I dont know what kind of world your living in!'
'The kind of world I live in is full of annoying siblings who wont shut up for five minutes!'
I cant help but burst out laughing.
'What!'
'Im sorry! I just find that funny cause whenever Im there they seem to avoid us!'
'Because they want to show off!'
I laugh.
He starts poking me.
'James stop!' I squeel.
He stops and smiles at me.
I catch Emily watching us with a smile on her face.
We finish dinner and wash up.
'Right Em! Time for lesson 2.0!' I smile.
We sit down and I take out some books.
I go through some things with her with no help from James. All he did was sit on the coutch on his phone. After an hour we stop.
'Im getting ready for bed' I say standing up.
'Okay. Night Riley'
'Night Em'
I look at James who isnt paying any attenition. I go up behind him and slap his head.
'Ow! What was that for!'
'I said Im going to bed!'
'Okay! Goodnight!'
'Goodnight!'
We look at eachother and laugh.
He stands up and hugs me.
'Goodnight Ri'
'Goodnight James. See you tomorrow'
He smiles as I leave to go to my room.
I throw myself on the bed and fall asleep.
Im glad James came over to help. For the first time in a long time I can see things starting to get better in my life.
I just hope it does.
James POV:
I walk towards the door.
'Theres something between you guyes you know' Emily says.
I look at her.
'What?'
'I saw how you guyes acted at dinner'
'We're just friends. Thats all. Theres no way we will be more than that. I just met her! Yeah shes a great person and yeah shes beautiful but were just friends'
'If you say so. But I definatly see something between you guyes'
'Well Im gonna go'
'Wait James'
I look at her.
'I just want you to know that Ive never seen Riley so happy since mom and dad died. And its because of you. You make her happy James and I want to say thank you for that'
'Its nothing really'
Shs smiles.
'Thanks for dinner'
'No problem. But it was mainly Riley. I gave up half way through. I didnt know if there was meant to be more meat than sauce or more sauce than meat!'
She laughs.
'I better go. Mom will be pulling her hair out wondering where I am'
She smiles.
'Okag. Bye'
'Bye Em'
I leave to go home.
Right now all I can think about is getting some rest!
