Chapter 9 ~ Cinema

James POV:
Im outside Rileys appartment door as I offered to pick her up tonight. She opens it and smiles.
'Hey'
I look at her. She is more beautiful than ever. I mean she always is but this time is different.
'Your beautiful' I say to her.
She puts her head down and blushes.
Emily comes up behind her.
'Now you two have fun and enjoy your date'
We look at her.
'We're not dating!' we say together.
'We were forced to go because Michelle thinks we like eachother!' Riley says.
I look at her.
'When did she say that?'
'She might have mentioned it today'
I smile.
'Its not a date okay!'
'Whatever! Now leave!'
She closes the door behing us.
'Why does everyone think we're dating!' Riley says to me annoyed.
'I dunno'
'Everywhere I go I get asked the same question! Hows James! Hows your boyfriend! Why cant they understand we arent dating! I dont even like you like that! I mean yeah, your a great guy and all but give me a break! We're only friends! Is it that hard to have a guy as a friend without people thinking we're together! Seriously!' she rants.
I look at her.
'Are you done?'
'Yeah sorry. I just got a bit carried away'
'I can tell. But its better to get it all out right!'
She smiles.
We arrive outside the cinema where we meet Michelle and John.
'What are we going to watch?' Riley asks.
'Horror!' John and me both say.
'No! Thriller or action!' Michelle says.
'Why did I ask?' Riley sighs.
'Ri. You have the last vote'
'Rom com'
'Right. Thats two for horror. One for thriller and action and one for rom com. Looks like its horror!' I smile.
'But James! I hate horrors! Theyre so...horrifing!' Riley says.
'You can always hide in my arms if you have to' I tell her.
'Thanks'
We go up to the counter.
'4 tickets please'
'What movie?'
'Annabelle'
The man hands us the tickets.
We sit down. It starts.
'James I scared' Riley whispers.
'Its okay. Want some popcorn to make you less scared?'
She nods and takes some.
I look over at John who is watching the movie along with a very calm Michelle. But I know shell be curled up in Johns arms in no time.
As the movie goes on, Riley gets more scared and so does Michelle.
When one of the charactors screams in the movie, Riley accidently does too. She covers her mouth. I laugh.
'You can burry your head in my chest if you want' I smile.
She nods and does that. She stays like that for the rest of the movie.
Looking at Riley all curled up in my arms brings a smile to face. Shes so adorable. Ive always found this girl intriging. Theres always been something about her but I can never put my finger on it. When the movie is over I shake her.
'Ri. Its over'
She slowely lifts her head.
'That was the most terrifing moment of my life'
I laugh.
'Next time Ill take you to a rom com to make it up to you'
'That would be nice'
I smile.
We leave the cinema.
'Bye guyes. See you tomorrow' I say to Michelle and John.
'Bye'
I drive Riley home.
'Thanks for tonight' she smiles.
'Your welcome. What was your favourite bit?'
'Leaving'
I laugh.
She hugs me. I look into her brown eyes. Shes so amazing. I suddenly feel myself leaning in and I cant stop. She moves away. I pull back and we stand there akwardly.
'Riley Im sorry. That wasnt meant to happen'
'Its cool. No big deal. Ill...um...Ill see you tomorrow'
I nod as she goes into the appartment and closes the door.
Well done James. You just turned a great night into a complete disaster.
I need to talk to Riley tomorrow.
I hope I didnt just ruin our friendship.
