....a few weeks on....
Rileys POV:
I sneak up behind James in the school yard.
'Hey!'
He jumps.
'Jesus Riley!'
I laugh.
'Sorry'
He smiles and puts an arm around me.
I stop walking.
'Whats wrong?'
I look straight ahead. He follows my gaze which lands on the girls. They are laughing and pointing at us. Well mainly me.
'Ill talk to them' James says.
'No. I got this one'
I walk towards them.
'Can I help you with something?' Jess asks.
'Yeah. You can stop laughing at whatever Ive done'
'Why? Who cares about you? Your a looser!'
They all laugh.
'Your so full of yourself that you cant even make proper friends! At least thats something Ill always have!'
She stands up.
'What did you say to me?'
'You heard me!'
'Take it back!'
'No!'
'Do you want me to beat you up again so you can go running home to your mummy and daddy? Oh wait. You dont have parents! Their dead!'
I push her.
'Getting tough are we?'
'Im not the shy scared girl you think I am. Ive changed!'
'Oh really?'
I look at her.
'Or are you doing all this just to show off to your new bestie over there? Maby its because you have a huge crush on him but is too scared to admitt it!'
I glance back at James who has his head down.
'You leave him out of this!'
Suddenly a little idea comes to my head.
'Since your talking about him so much maby your the one who has a crush on him!' I say
She goes quiet.
'Jessica Taylor has a crush on James Torjman!' I shout for everyone to hear.
People gather around.
'Thats right everybody! Jessica has a crush on James!'
'Stop it!' she says.
I turn to her.
'Why dont you admitt it to him that you like him! Go on!'
I push her over to him. She looks at him.
'I dont like you'
A small smile spreads across his face. And I know what that means. Hes in on the plan and hes planning something right now.
'I know you dont like me Jess. You love me'
I was not expecting that. But its pure genious!
A gasp fills the yard.
'I heard you talking the other day saying how James is amazing and James is so cute and how you love me! Well guess what! I got it all on tape! And I can prove it!'
He takes his phone out and plays a recorded voice.
James is so cute. Hes so amazing and I love him so much. I wonder if one day we could get married!
He stops the tape. I have no idea how he got that especially when she said none of it! But it seems like it worked!
'Thats not me! Thats....Riley!' she says pointing to me.
'No its not cause Rileys voice is...well Rileys and your voice is belong to this tape'
She looks at him.
'Im sorry to break it to you Jess, but I dont love you. I dont even like you. We're not even friends! So why dont you take your friends and get lost. And keep away from Riley. Cause if you dont, Im always going to have this tape. And I can press the button as fast as you can say dont even worry about it to send it viral. So next time think twice about what your going to say to Riley'
She turns to me.
'How do you like a tase of your own medicine Jess?' I smile.
She runs off in tears.
Everyone cheers and claps then goes back to doing their own thing. I hug James.
'I dont understand. How did you do that?'
'Ill show you this evening'
I smile.
'Thank you'
'Dont thank me. Thank yourself. You were the brave one. I just helped'
I smile.
We go to class.
Its about time Jess was put in her place. But its not over yet. Its never going to be over.
But now I know Im ready to face anything.
