She stood upon a throne of lies
She made men cry before our eyes
She took, and took, and took some moreOh, but she was lovely.
A broken crown upon her head
She made so many wish to be dead
She was pure malice in a form so smallOh, but she was lovely.
So, young and meek, so unafraid
She did all things that god forbade
She was pure terror in my sightOh, but she was lovely.
She called to me and knew my name
Just like so many who sought out fame
She helped us rise and viewed our fallOh, but she was lovely.
She burned my lips and tore my lungs
She made me climb the ladder rungs
Up and up I climbed some moreOh, but she was lovely.
She crossed the edge and called for me
Promised me things I could not see
She told me all I needed to hearOh, but she was lovely.
I tried to quit I swore I did
I drew away but she forbid
She pulled me close and held on tightOh, but she was lovely.
She left me as a mess; no more
I couldn't get off the final floor
She ripped my heart and tore my soulOh, but she was lovely.
I screamed no more; I'm done; I'm through
but in the end, not much they could do
I couldn't win, I saw a light.Oh, but she was lovely.
No more from me could she still take
I lost it all from this mistake.
Matter not did I, she'd move on to anotherOh, but she was lovely.
