Jared couldn't grasp the fact that Evan was gone. After all, who could? After the Connor Project, his memory couldn't be washed away. Not even after what had happened.

Jared loved Evan. But, as most people toward their crushes, he couldn't tell the boy. He tried to hide his feelings, push them away, but all that ended in was him calling Evan an asshole. Evan, after telling the Murphy family everything, became alone again. Everyone who asked about the project ending never got answers. Evan separated himself from the world. Music was his new best friend, his other being himself. He was convinced that everyone hated him. By this, he meant Alana and Jared, of course.

Jared had tried to talk to him. So many times. Evan was always reading and listening to music then, and he could never hear the other boy. Jared watched as Evan's life slowly unraveled. He was becoming less and less like the Evan he knew.

And then, Evan tried. He succeeded, this time. Everything in Jared's world collapsed. But he promised he'd stay strong. His note was addressed to Jared. It said that he had felt like he himself had disappeared from reality and that nothing was worth it. It said that he had loved Jared. Ever since Jared had dreams of them together. It made him feel generally happy until he woke up, like just now.

Jared sighed, tears brimming his eyes.

All he wished was for Evan.
But, instead, he got the opposite.
