"Javi, let me in real quick I'll explain."

"Gabe, honestly what the fuck were you thinking? The world isn't how it was like before, you can't go around doing whatever you wanted to anymore. There are real monsters out there, and I'm not talking about the walkers."

He was right. People were honestly worse than walkers. I guess the apocalypse really did bring out everyone's true self.

I took a minute to comprehend what he said, but I had to try.

"Yes, I know, and I'm really sorry Javi. But I need your help, I need..."

Javi interrupted me as I tried to speak.

"What could you possibly need at 5:34 in the morning?"

"Please just listen. I had a nightmare and... and... uh, I need directions to the McCaroll Ranch."

"Gabe..."

He turned to look at me. I didn't reply, and he didn't either.

I knew I should've just left. Asking for help never ended up good for me anyways. I always messed up whatever I did. It felt like the only person I could relate to was... was Clem.

I finally broke the silence.

"If you're not gonna help me, I'll go on my own."

He didn't reply. This conversation was killing time. It was hard to leave New Richmond without permission. Javi would've never let me leave alone.

"Bye Javi,"

I shut the door behind me as I left his room. I couldn't turn back. I'd regret it for the rest of my life if I didn't leave.

He didn't come after me. I loved Javi as much as I did my father. I looked up to Javi, but he never let me do what I wanted, and I could see why. Why would he let an irresponsible 14 year old head out, on his own, and get killed by walkers? I could see his point of view, but I was committed.

When I left, I headed straight to the Church. I knew that the New Frontier held meetings and conferences there, and wondered if Dr. Lingard had any maps or any clues on how to reach the McCaroll Ranch.

I walked in. It was pitch black, like the sky, except there was no moon to light the way. The church relied on it's stain glass windows for light, but the sun hadn't risen just yet. I used my lighter to guide the way until I found a candle I could light. Luckily, there were candles on the alter and I took the one on the left and lit it.

I circled the church to see if I could find anything useful. Nothing. I ended up back at the front doors and walked back up to the alter.

As I skipped by the pews, I continued to look around. It was a Christian Church before the apocalypse happened. It's amazing it was still intact. Not one stain glass window shattered and the cross depicting the death of Jesus was still hanging.

Behind the alter was a wooden desk and some chairs surrounding it. I opened a drawer to find a notebook and some pencils. I opened the notebook to find out most of the pages weren't even used. The first few had information from a few months ago about the civilians and amount of food they had.

I ripped those pages out the book and took the notebook and 2 pencils. After putting those in Clem's bag, I looked around a little more for some information. There were folders, but in them were more statistics and information of the New Frontier.

I wondered if there were more of them. More of the New Frontier out there. What if they heard about New Richmond and how we took over the New Frontier? Would they attack? I continued to question myself and just decided to stay committed to my one goal.

Finally, Dr. Lingard's drawer. I found a couple letters from Dr. Lingard to my dad, David.

Dear David,

I'm writing from the camp to leave you this letter when you come back. Joan and I are headed up north to a storage facility to see if we can find anything. I'll take AJ off your hands for you and deliver him to...

I stopped reading. This wasn't real. I couldn't believe what I just read. Clem... Clem... I'll be there soon.
