I looked upwards to see a live and thriving town.

I couldn't believe it. An actual town. The walls were all boarded up around the town and seemed to have only one entrance. As we arrived, Brian hopped off the bike to talk to some guy at the front of the gates.

He nodded and walked back to the bike and responded,

"They'll open the gates for us. But be quick, you never know when walkers will fuck you over."

"O...okay."

We drove in quickly and the gates slowly shut behind us.

My motorbike blended in with the bicycles that the civilians were riding, except that I didn't have to pedal.

This place was in better shape than New Richmond and clearly had a larger population.

As I stared at my surroundings, I asked Brian where we were,

"Woah... where exactly are we?"

"This is Stafford. Stafford, Virginia. North of the former capital, Richmond."

"So you and your buddy Nick live here? What's the population?"

"Yep, lived here for about 3 months now. Before that we were nomads. Population is around 1000 by the way. We're still small, but trying to build something that might work."

10 minutes later

We arrived at a more modern styled house that was patched up with boarded wooden planks.

I walked inside and sat down on a couch. It was also patched up with duct tape from rips or tears on the seating, but this home out did any home in New Richmond.

I sat for about 5 minutes when Nick walked downstairs to see me. He quickly pulled out his gun and aimed it towards me.

I reacted how any one would've and put both my hands up and said,

"Br... Brian brought me here, you don't have to shoot."

"Dammit Brian, you stay here. Don't fuckin move or touch anything."

He went into the kitchen to talk with Brian. I sat nervously and wondered why I was even here, or why they needed me. All I wanted was to know where Clem was.

Nick walked back into the room. Brian followed behind him.

"Hey, Nick's got somethin' to say to ya."

Nick spoke,

"Alright, you don't gotta fear, me n' you are chill. It's just us 3 now."

They sat down across from me and Brian spoke,

"We know you wanna find your friend, and trust me we will, but for the next 3 days we need you to help us out."

Nick backed him up saying,

"Look, we were banned from Stafford's food supply when we stole food here around 3 months ago before we even settled here. They forced us into a jail cell thing and we were put on probation for around a month."

Brian further explained for Nick by saying,

"And in that month we had to prove ourselves as worthy citizens. So we helped boarded up all the windows in this town, and contributed to that wall you saw out there."

I kept on listening and tried not to miss a detail. These guys were my ticket to find Clem and I couldn't waste the chance and opportunity to find her.

I asked them how and why this involved me,

"What does this have to do with me. I didn't do anything except show up."

Brian looked at me, and started to rant,

"Well listen, we need you to help us. But let me finish the story then this'll lead you to your answer. Anyways, before you interrupted me. We worked our way out of that cell and they let us live here."

It still didn't make any sense. Why am I here. I had one goal, but it seemed like I just had to hold on and let him finish the story.

Nick started to speak again,

"Just cut to the point already. He just wants to know why he's even here."

"Okay okay chill. Anyways we don't like it here, the living conditions look better on the outside, and ever since we changed leaders, this place has been straight up ass. He's been changing the rules and shit and we want out of here."

Nick interrupted again,

"Look, while his dumbass explains our life story, I'll cut to it. We can't leave and bring all of our stuff outside of these walls. The only time we get to leave these walls is for our hunting duties."

I think I realized what was going on. They didn't seem to remember Clem, or our deal about finding her. They were trying to use me to help them ditch. I asked them again,

"So where is Clementine? Where is she?"

Brian answered saying,

"Okay let us finish for God's sake. We want you to help us smuggle all of our stuff outside these walls. We wanna find our friends or see if they're even alive in all this shit. Just like how you're trying to find Clementine."

Nick spoke again,

"Anyways, we fucked up yesterday. As Clem walked on the road during our hunting duties we ran into her and she almost fuckin' shot me."

Brian continued,

"She asked for food and I told her she could follow us to our camp. She refused until I convinced her and she tied Nick's hands up. And then that's when we were fucked."

Nick interrupted again by saying,

"The new leader doesn't like outsiders. And he really seemed to hate the name Clementine. He actually hated Clementine a whole lot more than normal outsiders. So once he found out we had brought her in, she..."

Finally the moment I was waiting for. I was going to find out where Clem was all this time.
