Gabe's POV

A few minutes had passed since either of us said anything. I thought it was best not to say anything just yet.

I had wondered how I had even gotten into this mess. A few days ago I was sitting on a tire, wondering where Clem was, and now I'm here, being used as a place to cry on.

We both sat on the ground, near the duffel bags, waiting for Nick and Brian to return. Our backs leaned against a tree, and Clem had sat quietly, grieving her losses, and so did I.

We were two teenagers stuck in this fucked up world, and there was nothing we could do about it except survive. We weren't kids, adults, male, or female, we were alive.

We sat here for another few minutes when we finally heard the motorbike.

It was Brian.

"You two alright?" he said, pulling over on the left side of the tree. "I left Nick on the road and came back to pick both of you up. I know it'll be a squeeze, but Nick and I had an idea."

I looked down at the seating of the motorbike to see a duct taped plank attached to the seat.

"We found a sturdy piece and duct taped it to the seat. We tested it and figured it'd be able to fit 3 people." he continued.

Clem didn't reply.

"Uh, thanks. Good thinking." I said.

I looked over to Clem and nudged my shoulder a little bit to check on her. She got up and wiped her tears on her sleeve and grabbed a bag, putting it on.

"Here Gabe," she said handing one to me.

I took it and wrapped it on my right side like a huge purse, and got on the bike. I sat awkwardly behind Brian, having to hug him to stay on. Then Clem joined behind me, and wrapped her arms around me. She rested her head on my back shoulder blade, needing a place to rest.

"Ready? It'll be like 15 minutes, and Nick's out there waiting." he said.

"Yep, let's go." I said.

I turned my head to look back at the tree before we got to a point where I couldn't see it anymore.

I knew it was just a tree, just another place in this forestry area, but it held some meaning in my heart. It was the first time where Clementine and I could talk and relate to each other alone.

When we were in New Richmond, Clem and I were always accompanied by Javi, or Kate, or even my dad. We hadn't had much time alone before like that, besides playing euchre, even though Kate and Javi were in the driver's seats.

I snapped myself back into reality and looked around. This path reminded of the one Brian took me on when we were headed to Stafford.

"So we're almost there right?" I asked, "I could remember the path from the last time you took me."

"Yep, in a few minutes we should be reaching the road." he replied. "What happened back there?"

"Nothing," I said. "We went through some old things of Clem, and just started relating to everything that had happened."

"Ya I see your point. When this shit started 5 or 6 years ago, I was only 15, around your age. I don't know how we did it, but we managed to survive." he said.

I nodded my head, and realized Clem had fallen asleep in the back. She started to loosen her grip, but tightly wrapped her arms around me once she had woken up again.

We arrived at the road and saw Nick. I was shocked, he was surrounded by around 15 walkers and he started running, opposite of the walkers. We parked the bike in the middle of the road and all 3 of us got off and started shooting the walkers. One by one they went down. And finally there were only two left. We were around 30 feet from Nick and we could see him jogging back over here.

"Holy fucking shit. I was just standing here, taking a piss on a tree, when those shits came outta nowhere." he said.

Brian laughed, "That was some funny shit."

Clem and I shot the other two walkers when the four of us were finally reunited by the bike.

"You guys good?" Brian asked.

"Ya, except for the walkers jumpin' out at me whilst pissing." Nick replied.

Clem nodded and asked, "So what happened back in Stafford?"

Brian took the bike and started walking, "I'll explain on the walk."

"Hey, I know where you guys could go. Clem and I stayed at a place called New Richmond. You... you could probably stay there." I suggested.

"Alright we'll head where ever y'all are headed." Brian said turning the bike around.

We were headed back to New Richmond. I couldn't remember how far exactly the drive was, but I knew it'd been a long drive. So it'd be a longer walk.

"So what happened?" Clem asked.

"Alright. So I was siphoning the gas for this bike when I saw a nade go off around the southern part of the base. I didn't see much, but I saw Clint and the other guy run out of the gates."

"Do you know where they went?" I asked.

I recalled the figure that Nick and I saw in the forest a few hours ago.

"Gabe and I saw some shit in that forest. They shot at us and barely missed Gabe with the one bullet they fired." Nick replied.

"I think it was them then." I said, "It has to be."

I realized I hadn't told them anything about my dad or Clint or that we even knew who they were. Both of our lives were shadowed from each other. So I thought it was a good idea to ask them about their past.

"So Brian," I began, "who are those people in the picture?"

I felt this was the best idea for the time being while we started to get to know each other. We were practically surviving together for the past day or two, so I'd agree that this was the best action.

He started to speak.

"Well..."
