Sandra was starting to think that working at the Riverside Diner was turning out to be a blessing and a curse. It was a blessing because she was not far away from home and she had the best boss in the world. The curse was that men were constantly trying to hit on her when she was serving them. At first she thought it would pass, but apparently she caught every man's attention. Why would men want her? She came with a lot of baggage: she was divorced, she wasn't as young as the other waitresses at the diner, and she had a 6-year-old daughter. Just the third fact would be a deal breaker for most men. Who in their right mind would want to deal with a kid that is not even theirs? Well, there's always an exception. That exception happened to be Steven Johnson.

Steven Johnson is a certified public accountant. He has his own office and he was very proud of his business. He graduated from Berkeley College with a master's degree in accounting. He graduated at the top of his class. When it came to numbers, he was a genius. After he graduated, he got married to his longtime girlfriend Charlotte Nelson. She was studying political science. They met their freshman year and it was love at first sight.
At first it seemed that nothing could go wrong. They bought a house and immediately moved in together. Steven wanted to work as a certified public accountant, but first he had to pass the CPA state exam. Steven passed it with flying colors. Numbers could never get in his way. He was very good at math. On the other hand, Charlotte wanted to teach political science to college students. Both were very goal-oriented. Everything seemed great, until one incident changed everything.

Flashback
Steven decided to finish work a little earlier than usual. It was his and Charlotte's third wedding anniversary. He wanted to surprise her, so he made a reservation at the Dresden. It was impossible to get a reservation at the Dresden. In order to get a reservation you have to call at least five months in advance. Steven arrived at his house. He got out of his car.
He opened the front door of his house. "Char, where are you?" Steven asked. It was too quiet. Whenever he comes home it is never like this. Charlotte is always working on her lesson plans for her classes. Maybe she didn't hear me, Steven thought. "Charlotte, where are you?" He yelled.
He walked up the stairs and he got to their bedroom door. He was hearing strange noises. It sounded like some sort of a humming sound. Steven opened the door and he couldn't believe what was he was seeing. Charlotte and his best friend Andrew were naked in their bed having sex. They had no shame. They didn't even cover themselves when they had been caught by Steven.
"How long has this been going on?" Steven yelled at them. He was furious. No one was answering. They were just staring at him. "Someone better start talking." Steven demanded. If looks could kill, Steven would have killed them with just his eyes.
"About a year." Charlotte mumbled while she looked away from Steven.
"What was that? Say it again." Steven yelled at her. She has never seen him like this. He was such a calm person in general.
"About a year." Charlotte repeated it again.
"Get your things and get out of here." Steven demanded and pointed at Charlotte. "As for you Andy, some friend you are. What is Lisa going to think of this? For god's sake you have kids with her."
"I don't know. It just happened. I really like Char. She's amazing." Andy said while he got his clothes from the floor.
"Yes, I'm aware of that. No need to tell me that. So, what is it? One wife is not enough for you? You needed to have mine as well. Both of you get out. I never want to see or speak to either of you ever again."
Charlotte and Steven were divorced just after two months. Steven wanted the divorce to be done as soon as possible. The only thing he wanted to keep for himself was the house. Charlotte could have everything else. He was done. At least they did not have children which made the divorce to not be as painful.

Present
Sandra was serving her usual tables when she noticed a man with black hair and wearing a very nice suit sitting by himself in a booth. He was holding a coffee cup. He was just holding it and not drinking from it. Sandra approached him. He looked very handsome, Sandra had to admit.
"Would you like more coffee?" She asked.
"Yes, please. Thank you." He replied while she poured him coffee. He was looking at her and he smiled. Sandra blushed while she looked at him. What was this man doing to her? He was a breath of fresh air compared to the men who usually come to the diner. He wasn't really trying to flirt with her. He seemed content just being there. There was just something about him that really intrigued Sandra.
"You're welcome. Is there anything I can get for you, sir?" Sandra asked.
"Actually, there is something that I wanted to ask you, Sandra." Steven replied.
"How do you know my name?" Sandra asked him. Was he a stalker? Sandra wondered.
"It's on your name tag." Steven pointed that out. "I was wondering if you could sit down so we could talk?"
Little did Sandra know that in just a few months she would finally find her soulmate and the love of her life.
