1969

1969 was turning out to be a very interesting year. Sandra couldn't believe how society changed in just over two years. It had its good moments and it also had its bad moments. The Beatles' last public performance was on the roof of Apple Records. Woodstock was the place to be if you were a rock-n-roll fan. Members of a cult led by Charles Manson murdered Sharon Tate and seven other people. That incident shocked Sandra the most. Now you can't even be safe in your own home. What would possess a person to commit such a heinous crime? The first man landed on the moon on the Apollo 11 mission by the United States and Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the moon.

Sandra graduated from California State University with a bachelor degree in accounting. She was so happy that she got through these four tough years. It seemed like the day that she would graduate would never come, but before she knew it she was done with school. Her best friend Susan was not part of the graduating class. After Greg's party Susan declared that she was through with school. She didn't graduate with Sandra. Susan met a guy named Leaf. He was a hippie who traveled all over college campuses through California. He was protesting the Vietnam War and he was getting others to join in his movement. Susan immediately joined his movement and they started dating. Sandra misses her best friend. She wished Susan was here, but Susan is a free spirit. She can't be kept in a cage like a bird. A mutual friend told Sandra that Susan was traveling throughout California with Leaf and they gained more hippie followers. Sandra hoped that wherever Susan was that she was happy.

4 months after Sandra graduated Robert proposed to her. He took her out to dinner at a diner that was open all night. She was definitely surprised. Sure, they have been dating for almost two years, but she always thought that she would get married way later in her life. Sandra was now 22 years old and Robert was 23 years old.

On October 19, 1969 Sandra Davison and Robert Carlson were married at a local small Christian church in California. The ceremony was simple and Sandra was fine with that. She never liked being the center of attention.

"So Mrs. Carlson. How does it feel to be married to me?" Robert smirked at Sandra.

"It's so wonderful. I guess Susan was right back then. I really would find my prince charming at the party." Sandra said while she was reminiscing about the party.

"It wasn't difficult to not notice you at the party. That dress was very unique and it was as if there was some magnet with that dress that just pulled me to you." Robert admitted.

"It was actually Susan's dress. She made me wear it. She told me that was the dress that would find me Prince Charming." Sandra laughed when she thought about how Susan was so determined in finding just the "perfect" dress for Sandra.

"You made me the happiest man by accepting my wedding proposal." Robert said while he touched Sandra's cheek as they slow-danced.

"Did you really have doubts?" Sandra asked. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Well, yes. I always thought you were too good for me." Robert admitted.

"That's funny because I always thought a guy like you would never date a girl like me." Sandra laughed while she was admitting this.

"What do you mean a guy like me?" Robert asked.

"There was this aura of confidence you have. You would enter a room and people would notice you right away. You're a handsome guy and girls would always look at you. That's how it was at the party too. That's why I was surprised when you asked me to dance. There were so many girls who would have loved to dance with you and yet you picked me out of all of them." Sandra explained.

"Sandra, my eyes only saw you at the party. There was no one else that could have caught my attention like the way you did." Robert declared as he pulled her closer to him as the song I Only Have Eyes For You by the Flamingos was playing during their first wedding dance. Sandra couldn't stop looking at Robert's eyes. She did have eyes only for him.

In just a few weeks after the wedding Sandra Carlson got the biggest surprise of her life. She just found that she is pregnant. This was the event that definitely changed her life after marrying Robert Carlson. She has never felt so much happiness and love about another human being that she has not yet met.

Author's Note: I hope you enjoy this chapter. It's not the most exciting chapter, because it's mostly a filler chapter. I apologize if it is a short chapter. I guarantee you the next chapter is about to get more interesting. :) The photo at the top of the chapter is Sandra and Robert's wedding. I also hope you enjoy the song.
