Amanda was sitting on the chair that was in front of her desk in her room. She was just finishing up her history homework. It was due tomorrow. Next to her homework was the sketchbook that she frequently draws her designs in. This was her passion. She always made sure that she got done with her homework so she could focus on her designs. She started to sketch her latest design when her mom entered her room.

"Amanda, did you finish your homework?" Sandra asked while she went to sit on the edge of Amanda's bed.

"Yes, mom. It's all done. Now I'm focusing on my latest design." Amanda said.

"Really? Can I see it?" Sandra was curious. Amanda always managed to surprise her.

"Sure, I just got done with it." Amanda said when she got up and sat beside her mom.

"Wow, honey. I don't know how you do it. How did you gain this ability? I mean it's certainly not from me. I'm the least creative person in the family." Sandra chuckled at her lack of creativity.

"You're creative, mom. Just in a different way." Amanda said.

"So, any plans for today? Are you going out with your friends?" Sandra asked Amanda.

"I guess. We might stop at the record store and buy some records. Hannah's dad will drive us there and he'll drive us back after we are done. Hannah kept mentioning all day at school about this new band that just got very popular. I think she said that it is a boyband." Amanda explained.

"That sounds interesting. What's their name?" Sandra was starting to get curious as well. She can't think of a type of a group like that from her teen years.

"They're called New Kids on the Block. Hannah kept mentioning that they are very cute." Amanda laughed at that. When it came to boys, the most important thing for Hannah was their appearance. Everything else came second.

"Have fun honey." Sandra said and she hugged Amanda. Amanda hugged her back. Sandra was very happy that Amanda had not become like the other teenagers who refuse to hug their parents because it is "embarrassing."

"Thanks mom." Amanda said while she got up from the bed. She found her purse and took a denim jacket from her closet.

Hannah's dad dropped us off at the record store. It was going to be just Hannah, Tracy, and myself. We walked into the store. I started browsing and hoped to find a new record of Madonna. She's one of my favorite singers and she's such a fashion icon to me. She definitely knows how to dress. I definitely look up to her.
