Amanda

It's been two months since Duff has been in withdrawal from drugs. He doesn't look good, but he's trying to not use them. Last month was not a good time for us. We had our first major fight.

Flashback

When Duff came home from rehearsal, he was initially in a good mood.Everything seemed fine at first, and then all hell broke loose. Duff came back from the bedroom and he stood next to me in the kitchen. I was cooking spaghetti in the kitchen for dinner. We've been eating so much take-out food. I'm not the greatest cook, but I thought I would try to cook something even if it turns out to be terrible. It never hurts to try, right? Duff grabbed my elbow and he made me face him. I looked up at his eyes. He seemed very pissed. "What is it, Duff?" I quietly asked.

"Where are they, Amanda?" Duff asked me.

I tried to play innocent. "Where are what?" I asked him.

"Did you get rid of my drugs?" Duff asked me in such a harsh tone. I don't know what to say. I'm not scared of him. I'm going to be upfront and admit what I did.

"Yes, I did." I emphasized each word. I turned the stove off. I guess the food would have to wait until later.

"How could you?" Duff asked me. "I told you that I don't have a problem." He was very angry now.

"Duff, you do. You can't see how the drugs affect you." I was pissed too.

Duff didn't want to hear anymore about this topic. He changed the topic and he asked me the most random question. "What do you want to do for your birthday? It's coming up in a few days. Do you want to go out anywhere? I think I know what kind of a gift I'll buy you."

"Are you serious?" I couldn't believe what he was asking me. "I don't want you to buy me anything. Since you've decided to bring up the topic regarding gifts, I do have one request for you."

"What is it?" Duff asked me.

"My birthday wish is that you'll give up drugs for good. I don't want anything else. I don't want you to take me out anywhere." That was the only thing I wanted for my birthday.

Duff was surprised. "That's your wish?"

"Yes. That's all I want. Duff I had to give you a wake-up call. That's why I got rid of the drugs. You can't go on like this. There's no such thing as you having control over how many doses you take. Drugs are drugs, period. They're not good. It doesn't matter if you take low doses or higher doses." Amanda was so emotionally drained from this conversation. She started crying.

Duff's anger was gone when he saw Amanda crying

Duff's anger was gone when he saw Amanda crying. "Babe, don't cry. Everything will work itself out."

Duff came closer to Amanda and he hugged her. They were locked in a very tight hug. Duff was close to crying too because Amanda was crying.
