February 1990

The band and the girlfriends were at the Troubadour. Lately it seems that's the only place the band ever goes to. All of us were sitting in a circular booth. The girls were sitting on one side of the booth. I was sitting in the middle of the booth. Duff was sitting next to me. Everyone was drinking and the guys were clinking their cans of beer.

They said they were celebrating, but who really knows what they were actually celebrating

They said they were celebrating, but who really knows what they were actually celebrating. Sally was sitting next to me and next to her was Cheryl. At the end of the booth Stephanie was sitting. "So Cheryl, how is Steven doing?" I asked her.

"He's been doing his speech therapy." Cheryl replied quietly. "But unfortunately last week he relapsed and he took heroin again."

"Why am I not surprised?" Sally said in a very cold tone. "What do you expect from a junkie?"

"Sally." I snapped at her. "Don't say that."

"Why the hell not? I'm just telling it like it is. He's not going to change." Sally said to me.

"You don't know the entire situation." I reasoned with her. "Stephanie, how's it going with you and Axl?"

"We're fine, I guess." She didn't sound very convincing.

"That doesn't sound too reassuring." I indicated.

"He's been a bit moody, since the new members joined the band. By the way, the band will be shooting a music video for the song Don't Cry. You and I will be in the video." Stephanie pointed to me.

"Me? Since when? No one told me anything about this." I guess what General Axl says goes, no questions asked.

"Don't kill the messenger. I'm just telling you what I know." Stephanie said. "So how's it going with you? Are you excited about moving to Boston?"

"Yeah, I am. I'm almost done with packing everything that I'll need. I gave my two weeks notice at the Merry Go Round." I can't believe how fast three years of my life just flew by.

"We'll miss you." Cheryl said to me.

"I'll miss you all as well. I'm glad that I got to meet you. I'm glad that we're all friends." They accepted me as soon as I started dating Duff. We exchanged phone numbers. We were going to keep in touch.

Three blonde girls approached our table. "Hey guys, do you want to hang out with us?" One of the bleached blonde bimbos asked the guys.

One of the bimbos started flirting with Duff. He was holding his glass full of beer and he wasn't saying anything.
