Loss and Love

Chapter Two

She looked at me for a while and being the person she is finally decided to say something stupid." Looks like someone didn't get enough sleep last night. Did you sneak out and went to Jeremy's?" She said working her brows up and down." I... don't think this is about Jeremy. So what's with the face?"

"It's my Dad, he's gotten worse" I said with tears in my eyes.

"Oh Liz am so sorry to hear bout that". Hearing the amount of sympathy in her voice made me feel she understand what am going through." I should have known you were sad about that and not Jeremy. I'm forgetting quickly these days". I'd told Ann about my Dad illness but I didn't know she was this worried about him. It looks like she's about to change the mood in here because she leaped from her bed to mine with a big, but stupid smile on her face." So how's you and Jeremy? I haven't heard a lot of late night calls these days, which makes me sleep better and not eaves drop on your conversation"So is there trouble in paradise?"

"You eaves drop on my conversation with Jerry?" I ignore her question.

"Don't try changing the topic here Missy. I asked you a question, so speak up because am loosing my patience". She said snapping her right thumb and middle finger together.

"He's avoiding me and I don't know why."

"Well maybe, he just need some time alone. You know to look in to his future. I mean he's going to be senior next year and he might be planing some stuff for that. And the school year hasn't gone far yet he might still be adjusting. Just give him space. You want me to ask Tom what's wrong with him?"

I shook my head. Tom is Ann boyfriend, he's on the foot ball team along with Jerry and they are good friends. It's so funny because I nick named my boyfriend Jerry and she nick named her boyfriend Tom. They both dated back in High School and now attends the same college. Jerry and Thomas live in the same apartment building off campus.

" I've given him enough space Ann. I got up took my bag and headed for the door. As I held the knob I turned around and notice she was still sitting and looking at me. I'm going to see him and we're gonna talk."

I went down to the area where we the girls on the dormitory usually park our cars. As I was walking to my car I spotted a beautiful black Range Rover I usually see on campus with girls either in it or on it. Today the two  people in it we're having a bitter argument and the girl seem pretty upset but the guy, well he's calmer than a doctor. Just before I could pass the car the girl got down and slammed the door. The guy just laid his head back on the seat. As our eyes locked I quickly turned my head ashamed that I've been cut spying them while they were having a private conversation. I ran quickly to my car and got in. What if me and Jerry ends up like them or worse? "Dear Lord please don't let my relationship end." I prayed silently as I  bowed my head on the car wheel. I jumped when I heard a loud sound coming from a car. I laid my left hand on my chest, it's just the black Range Rover leaving. "I thought it was an ambulance without searing."

As I drove to Jerry's apartment building, I thought of all the possible things that could happened. He could be sorry apologize and every be okay again or he could break up with me. No no no no no that wasn't going to happen I have to be sure of it. I turned on the radio and Adele was hitting the song I love but don't wanna hear right now.

"Never mind I'll find someone like
you...." She sang on the radio.

I switch the station and found something that suits my mood. 'Life of the party' by Shawn Mendes was playing and I started to sing along.          Admiring my tone I sang louder.

With in fifteen minutes I arrived at his apartment building. It felt like ages since I last came here. I turned off the engine and got out of the car locking the door. I entered the apartment building and headed for the elevator
This place is very beautiful to stay. Jerry parents weren't rich but they sure knew how to take care their only child. Just before I could press the button of the elevator, I heard my name.

"Elizabeth!" Great it's Thomas. I turned giving him my best heart warming smile.

"Morning Thomas" I said hugging him.

"We really miss you being up here these few days. What happened you haven't been coming round lately? I miss my corn bread." That made me chuckle a bit.

"I've been pretty busy lately. Don't worry I'll find time to bake your corn bread the way you like it or I can teach Ann how to make it that way you can have it anytime. Huh,  how bout that?"

" You're the best." He squeezed me in his large arms till I thought my  brown skin was gonna have bruises.

"I'm gonna go now. Your Prince charming is waiting in his castle. Bye Elizabeth."

I nodded and smile with that he left. I turned back to the elevator and immediately it open and a girl I know pretty well from college step out and she only look at me and smiled like she won and I loss. Some girls are just too weird like me. I stepped in and press the button to the third floor where Jerry apartment was. As I arrived on the third floor, my heart was now in my throat. I tried hard to swallow so that it can go back where it belong but it stuck there. Why am I having this stupid feeling that something bad is gonna happen? I walk through the hall and arrived at his door.

"Oh boy." And with that I knocked his door.
